I've said it multiple times and I stand behind my statement when I say that the Egg Bowl is the most hate-filled day in College Football history.
I won't knock the egg bowl but this might help you understand TSIO: the very first game between Alabama and Tennessee ended in a TIE. That outcome cleared the stands - fans from both sides took the field and an all out brawl ensued.

^No even then Tenn and Bama had big schools and teams. And if you think it's changed that much... in the late 90s/00s there was a game in Knoxville we won and Vol fans were screaming ROLL TIDE while rocking Bama fans inside their vehicles.
You have no idea how hateful the rivalry gets when both teams have something on the line. The same kinda shite goes down when both UT and UF have something on the line.

You know how I know 90% of this board is made up of people who have been watching football for less than 10 years?

Here is why I love the TSIO rivalry and would give up any other game before I'd give up TSIO:
-two of the historically best teams facing off.
- each program has a rich history of accomplishments outside of this game. This is not either team's "super bowl" even though the game itself is very important to both sides.
- events that fuel the rivalry: Manning directing the band, frick fat Phil. Rocky block. Kiffin.
-the cigars.
-neither side backs down no matter how much either side sucks.
- I'm starting to also enjoy the vitriol from other fans about this game. We are playing it. Your whiney pleas have gone unheard. DWI.
Nothing sucks like the Big Orange, and frick any of y'all who believe we shouldn't play annually.

You can debate which rivalry is the best, but a Tennessee football coach is obviously going to say Tennessee's biggest rival is the best rivalry. What else would you expect him to say? I also agree that Tennessee wont stay down forever

You mean like a National Championship played in your own state?
Nah, LSU fans wouldn't know anything about that [21-0].
Let me know when the stakes of the ThirdSaturdayInOctoberButNeverPlayedOnTheThirdSaturdayInOctober game are that high.
UT fans are like what Ole Miss fans were during the 70's - not far enough removed from relevance to have lost the attitude yet.

Because if they had been watching for 20 years they would have thought the best rivalry was Tennessee - Florida?
