It is obvious that Saban has constructed a dynasty of sorts. He should be winning championships every year - he should be unbeatable ... if it's all about #1 classes.
Correct?
OMG, OP's posts seem to be getting dumber and dumber. No one ever said getting the number one classes guarantees you championships, it's still a game that has to be played on the field and there are gobs and gobs of variables and chance, not to mention parity at the top of the recruiting food chain and even moreso in this conference itself. If Alabama was in the Big 10 or 12 with these teams they'd have even more success due to less regular season competition. Having consistent top classes however will clearly indicate that you are bringing in top levels of talent to work with and Alabama has elite coaching to go along with it.
Look at Alabama's success rate over Saban's stretch as coach. That's what bringing in all those top classes, year after year, does. I don't quite understand what you don't get about that.
Oh, and I hate Alabama, but common sense is common sense.
ETA: And to add, I believe their stability at the quarterback position has been crucial to their run. The SEC has tremendous parity and Alabama has been able to win key games in crunch time to keep their run going. Having a screwed up quarterback situation can kill your team being solid everywhere else, as any LSU fan can tell you.

quote:2 sec titles in 7 years? I think alot of programs have done that. Spare me the BCS titles, those can be bogus(LSU 2007-we had 2 losses, got extremely lucky. Bama 2011, you know the drill. Auburn 2004, undefeated in the SEC and didnt even get a shot). Sec titles show what was proven on the field based on only merit, and while 2 in 7 is good, not exactly rare
Please refer to my signature. Then point out another program that has dulicated that in the same time span. Thanks.

Recruiting is an exact science. It's not guesswork.
Recruiting is the definition of guesswork, whether those decisions are educated guesses or not doesn't matter, still guess work.

It's like shooting craps. The house will not win every roll but over the long run the house will always profit around 1.5% off the game.
I agree to some extent, but when you shoot craps, there is a quantifiable probability that you will roll your point before you crap out. That certainty is not there in recruiting. Sure, there is a greater chance that a player who is highly touted will pan out, but there is absolutely no way to know what that probability is. There are so many different factors that go in to recruiting and there are plenty of examples of 3 star recruiting becoming all americans and 5 star busts.
Regardless, this doesn't take away from what Bama has been doing in the recruiting department.

There is no way Alabama locks up a better class if we get all of those guys.

Fine. How about 6 straight top 10 finishes? 5 BCS Bowl Appearances? 79 wins?
I'll wait.

Funny I think there might be a glitch in the Matrix...
I'm having Deja Vu all over again...
Just ask LSU fans
I like Bama's chances PARTICULARLY with the strongest start to a class I've seen so far under Saban

That's like saying psychology is guess work. It's not. You use statistics and evaluation to determine the ability of a player just like you use statistics (medical work) and evaluation to determine if someone is mentally fit.

There is a quantifiable probability that a school with a 10 ten recruiting class will win the MNC vs a school outside the top 10.

Sure there is. Go look at what players are drafted in the first three rounds of the NFL draft, make All-Conference/American teams and see who was in the Top 100 coming out of high school.

Yes just like there are many examples of someone making 10 or more points in a row at craps or hitting the Yo on three straight rolls (saw that myself).

It's really pretty simple.
Who has had the most #1 recruiting classes recently?
Who has won the most BCSNC's recently?
Hint, hint.....They're one and the same.
That simple huh?
How many #1 classes has SoCal had in the past ten years, and how many BCSNCs did they win after Pete Carroll went to Seattle where he eventually won the last super bowl?
Could it really be that difficult to get my point?
Saban wins because of his system, not his #1 ranked classes.
Saban could win, and has, with far lower ranked classes. So however this class ends-up, it really doesn't matter unless, UNLESS, it proves so good, combined with the other consecutive #1 classes, that Bama wins four or five consecutive championships.
We'll have to wait and see I suppose, but I doubt that is going to happen. The SEC is likely to get on another roll with championships, but Bama will have a hard time negotiating its SEC schedule, undefeated, regardless of how many more #1 classes Saban signs.
That's already been proven. So whatever this next class ranks it really doesn't matter.
Sign a Top Ten class, coach'em-up, build chemistry, catch some lucky bounces and breaks and you have a shot.

If I recall, Bama got boat-raced by the number 16 recruiting class led by a no-name 3* QB back in 2012.

4. And two of them played for National Championships. The other two are literally the only two #1 ranked classes that haven't.

LSU in the 00's.
Has never had 6 straight top 10 finishes, didn't have 5 BCS Bowl appearances and has never won 79 games in 7 years.
Florida is a little closer, but in their run of 6 consecutive top 10 finishes, they finished ranked first only one time.
Sooooo... One SEC team every 3 decades has a run like this.
