Me and the baby are doing absolutely nothing today... Gonna go to a playground and blow lots of bubbles some time this afternoon but that's the extent of it.

When I was a regular church goer, I kinda felt the same way. Now, I view people like that as being assholes. You're saying "I have to sit through this boring shite year round, and then y'all show up once or twice a year and get to do the Easter egg hunt and sing Christmas carols."
I was one of "those people" this year. I went to a church in my neighborhood that I've been to once in he past two years. I put money in the offering. I wore a tie, which is more than I can say for most of the sloppily dressed "casual Christians" who were there. I didn't dress nice to impress anyone, but rather to show respect for the people there as well as, oh, IDK, God.
Eat my butthole. I'll go to church whenever I want.

This is what I normally see when I know somebody doesn't go to church on the reg.

I don't understand the whole casual church thing. I find it annoying. Because, you know, we're so formal in every other arena of our life.
I like tradition, and I like people who dress like they GAF.
But yeah, I think there were maybe 2 or 3 ties there. I do what I can to lead by example.

maybe they worship individually but feel on special occasions they would like to celebrate with a group?
If I was a christian I would quote or reference some passage about not judging

I don't dress up anymore than what I normally wear to work, which is dressy business casual. I need to have a talk with my MIL though. The dresses she bought my daughters for Easter look like something Cyndi Lauper would wear back in the day.

I thought the duties of Christians were to encourage those to come and worship not encourage them to stay at home because you don't think they come enough....

A lot of people are just cultural Christians, and part of that is going to church on Christmas and Easter.
It's why the stats about religion mean nothing. The millions who go to church once or twice a year and don't even think about it outside of that will all answer "Christian" in a poll if asked.

I think the true number of Christians in the US would be 5% or less.

oh I do, but there is sin in my heart since I have these thoughts.

It depends on what one means by a true christian. If you're talking about the turning their lives over fully to Jesus, truly repenting of "sin", John Macarthur type of christian then its way less than 5%.
If we're just talking about those who truly believe, genuinely try and do good and go to church regularly its higher than that.
Most christians do half arse it though which makes the least sense of any decision about religion. If you claim to believe in hell and arent fully committed to a belief that supposedly saves you from it, I assert youre a goddamn lunatic.

I can't help but envision scrunchies and shiny polyester with lace.

They're a floral print on lace with poofy skirts and teal belts. I'm embarrassed people think I would dress my kids in that.

We went to two churches this morning. The 9:00 service at my parents' church was mostly to make my mom happy and to let her show off the most adorable triple threat in the world wearing their new suits and dress. We left there just in time to make it to our church for more worship instead of just fellowship. Sis promptly smeared chocolate all over her pricey pink dress.

I'm pretty sure my 5th grade promotion ceremony dress looked like that. I'm 32. Prayers sent.

They will never be worn again.

Is that the real reason you came home from the in-laws a day early?
Posted on 4/20/14 at 2:46 pm to Dawggy_Style
No. My husband had to take care of some work stuff. My My MIL wanted the girls to stay so I let them. They wore them to church this morning.

We're at my MIL's now. I'm pretty sure I'd rather be wearing an 80's dress.
