Maybe not to you but you're pretty simple minded.

Perhaps you can explain how a man can get pregnant, I'm not familiar with the intricacies of this phenomenon that apparently is an epidemic because the "law of the land" says I MUST be insured to protect myself from loss due to maternity expenses.

People without cars pay for streets.
People without kids pay for schools.
This is done through taxes, and yet no one bats an eye.

So you don't think you should have a monetary responsibility if you get a woman pregnant?
Are you really that shitty of a person?

I agree with you but these things are done for the "greater good" of society. Paying for other peoples kids education through public schools is a positive for the community as a whole. Healthcare is personal and my familys health care doesn't have anything to do with anyone else including the government.

But keeping them healthy isn't?

Well we have to look at it from another angle, too. Our hospitals -necessitate- treatment to someone who is dying, whether or not they can pay. Ultimately, the hospital will use this as a charity work and get a writeoff.
I live in Mexico which has a pretty uhhh, let me say it's an "open" system. A diagnosis costs 35 pesos (~3 dollars) and a lot of problems are stopped very early.
Treating illnesses as quickly as possible is a benefit, it truly is. The healthcare of your fellow citizens will weigh you down, no serious government is going to say: "Ahh frick 'em, let 'em die." And I can't support any government that does say that.
The fact of the matter is they need to be treated, whether we like it or not. Either way, we're going to pay for it, and at least in this way they will get treated faster and possibly limit severe complications because they didn't have the money and avoided the doctor because of it.

Last time I checked, my health insurance wouldn't cover the maternity care of a random coed who forgot to take the pill, so your point is moot.
Care to try again, officer dipshit?

I don't want to get into this discussion and will only add one more comment.
If the goal of obamacare was to keep people healthy then they did a shitty job. Don't have stats in front of me but this has only helped cover a small percentage of people that were previously not covered. It has also raised premiums and deductibles for millions of people that were already insured. It has given the government control of yet another industry and given them more control of the American people. The Aca will prove to be a disaster before it is said and done. 2015 and 2016 is when the real price spikes will be seen and it will be a shite show.

Why are you so angry? You clearly don't understand what you're talking about. Do you really think that Republicans are the only people who have realized that men can't get pregnant?

People without health insurance are getting it, that must really piss you off for some reason.
More people were kicked off of their plans than have signed up and paid their premium. No progress has been made for more people to be insured than before the ACA

A healthy society is also for the greater good of society.

Your blind hatred of Obama is affecting your common sense.

That would be common sense. I asked you why I need to be covered for maternity leave, WOULD YOU CARE TO EXPLAIN, STONEHOG?

Pushing responsibility for the maintenance of your health to others from a payer perspective could well have a deleterious societal effect.

Already did, the liability insurance analogy apparently went way over your head.

Well unfortunately the insurance companies and medical providers were limiting free choice, so the government was forced to step in. What they(government) came up with isn't the best solution, but at least it's a start.
No they weren't limiting free choice. And there are fewer options available to people now for health insurance than there were last year. So if it was about providing options, they failed at that, too.

Probably because it doesn't make sense, you're embarrassing yourself.
