Does anybody have any suggestions for a private, warm, beach in November? Florida is too cold by then, but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg at some chain resort in the Bahamas. Ideally an empty beach too, so i could take bikini pics of my new bride without some dork in the background checking her out.

It's their first post, dude. Have some dignity.

Also: I'd definitely take a cruise unless you don't like ships.

Hotel Playa la Media Luna on Isla Mujueres would be perfect. It's a 5 star hotel where you can stay for $100 per night. They have a private beach that is shaped like a half moon cove, an endless pool on the beach.

Plus, if you stay at Playa la Media Luna, you're only about a half mile from North Beach, a famous topless beach that, no lie, the hottest European women frequent. It's a true topless beach and the hotness seems infinite.

My wife and I have stayed there a few times. Wed recommend no other place. Truly beautiful.

Puerto Rico is always the answer. San Juan/Carolina are always busy, but if you get out to one of the resorts on the east island in Rio Grande, Luquillo or Humacao you'll be pretty isolated from the city and it's easy to find a nice little beach to do whatever.

Peter Island or Coco Bay. Both are pricey because they're all-inclusive, but they are small resorts and both have private beaches. My wife and I went to Peter Island but I also researched Coco Bay during my planning for the vacation. Not sure about your budget, but those sound like what you're looking for.

As posted above, Puerto Rico is awesome, too. If you want an empty beach, go to Dorado, Fajardo, or Rincón because San Juan is a big city but it is one of my favorite vacation spots. A lot of history in old San Juan and El Yunque (rain forest on PR) is only a short drive outside the city. There is a small resort on Vieques Island that is pretty cool, too.

A. St. John in the Virgin Islands.

B. November is the start of tourist season, so "private" will be more difficult.

C. Search for rentals in Bahamas and elsewhere. You can rent a house/condo with reasonable privacy for around $90-$130 per night and avoid tourist hot spots.

Thanks for pointing that out. Is Randy getting married?

As to the OP, better on the beach than a boat in my view. Not a big fan of cruises and I would have suggested a place that has become way to commercial in the last decade to recommend it now.

I was in the Navy so I'm a little bias.

I've done a cruise before, enjoyed it but definitely too many people there! The resort hotel pictured above looks nice, but again - unless the hotel is empty, it wouldn't be what I'm after. Any more ideas?

Rare to meet a Navy person who will let the "boat" comment slide.

Turks & Caicos Islands always seem to win world's best beach every year, and the little island of Grand Turk is not touristy at all. We stayed at www.beachsidebungalow.com and it was perfect. Private home on a sleepy island - nobody on the beach but us. Found it on VRBO.
