My HS was 70% black. At 48, I still throw out some old school slang from back in the day without trying to. I still eat soul food too, but that's really just country cooking like I was raised on so I don't know if that qualifies.

We have a joint party with two of the black fraternities and a black sorority every year. It is probably one of the craziest nights of the year.

Black males are now the most influential group of people in America. Young people especially tend to copy the way famous black males talk, dress etc..,
I listen to the blues so perhaps that's where I mimic them.

i'm not disagreeing, i just dont recognize it in my advanced age.
i do see a lot of young kids carrying out what i consider to be dumb trends, but i just dont know what the influences are behind them. one that i have noticed a lot lately is red hightop sneakers as an option for any style or occasion. where did this come from?
