Who has been your team's "once in a generation talent"?
For Georgia - Herschel frickin' Walker is pretty much the only obvious one. I think AJ Green also qualifies - best we've ever had at the position (sorry Hines) and best we probably ever will have. David Pollack should also be in the discussion.
Anyway, the discussion about the Heisman winning QBs in the other thread made me think about other positions and who was/is truly "once in a generation" as opposed to just "really, really good".

We're only talking football right?
I will say Tommy Casanova. Billy Cannon would be a good choice as well.

Outside of Pistol Pete and Shaq...Kevin Faulk was pretty special plus 13 years in NFL.

Patrick Willis for Ole Miss was one of the most talented linebackers I have ever seen in person. He could fly around the field and would lay the wood on anybody.

As a Pats fan. Thanks.

I'd have to say Julio Jones was for us. Derrick Thomas for sure, Ozzie Newsome and Joe Namath maybe.

Fine - I can go with other sports. For Georgia basketball it's gotta be Dominique Wilkins. And that's about it.

Bo Jackson is the ultimate once in a lifetime athlete in terms of complete package
I truly believe that until Cammy Cam came. So now we have two from Auburn
Herschel is not once in a generation because Bo came right after and was more talented

I know there will be those that disagree, probably even a good faction that will bash me for this...
But Honey Badger. We aren't talking about who is really good. Not even saying he was the best player weve had at his position. But what made him so great was this insane level of inherent talent/instincts.
We are talking about that kind of talent that comes along and is unlike anything else. No one, NO ONE has the kind of ball instincts that kid has. The closest comparisons to him are ed reed who is a solid 20 years older?
Hate me, hate him, idc... he is a once in a generation talent.

I wasn't alive when Hershel Walker played so I am going to go with AJ Green.

Basketball: Marshall Henderson.
Baseball: I have no clue. In my lifetime probably Drew Pomeranz.

Derrick Thomas. Haven't seen a player of his caliber, at that position, since.

Tough call.
Mcfadden is the easy answer but there will never be another Matt Jones at Arkansas. He was a freak.
