LSU competes for the west every year, so yes, expect that to continue.

LOL at Ole Miss.

hope so

schedule isn't terrible. get past wisconsin at the start of the year, road games vs A&M and Florida are not trivial but should be winnable if the team is good. Games vs Auburn and Bama will obviously be the key games.

to restate the obvious the team should be a very good running team with a pretty good defense. the team will be just good but not in true contention to win the SEC if the DL is weak or the QB production is mediocre.

Of course they will, until they don't, and then they'll say they never really thought they would

Our defense will be a tad better than 2012, because the secondary will be a lot better from start-to-finish, the LBers cannot be worse, and the DLine will surprise folks to the good side.

The offense will be respectable, but AJ will make a lot of rookie mistakes.

Look for the most classic of classic boring Les Miles offensive game planning.

The good news is that the Wisconsin game will be like a home game and we should be able to power by them, and the rest of the schedule sets up about as good as you can expect, with the trip to the plains being the biggest hurdle, along with the obvious battle with Bama.

So, compete for the West?..Yes. Contend for the SEC, yes, we have as good of a chance as in any year, and possible a bit above average of a chance in 2014.

You'll have a strong OL, your starting RB may come in and be the best in the SEC. I know you lose a lot as usual but lets face it, talent is replaced with talent. If your QB is at least average will you guys compete for the west? Not trolling just looking for your perspective and outlook.

Sorry OP. You came to the wrong website.

Yes, we will win the NC, Fournette wins the heisman as a freshman, Miles accepts a gig with dancing with the stars, and mike the tiger escapes to woodville and eats a couple strippers

CC I think we'll at least be in contention for the SECW title with ya'll and Auburn. But don't forget Ole Miss.
I think this may be the most wide open the West has been since maybe the mid 2000s.

Our question marks are: New QB(s), youth at WR,
and return game.
I really don't see our defense declining, mostly because we return many players who started games last year and have a lot of quality depth. Losing Freak Johnson and Barrow may hurt a little.

If we somehow were to beat Wiscy in Houston on August 30, we have a chance to be 6-0 going into the toughest half of the season. It all depends on how well the young guys play in the beginning of the season, esp. Jennings/Harris/Rettig at QB.
