I know it's just his first year but I'm curious to see your opinion.

I think him and Les are 3t or even Gus 4th until Gus shows he can sustain success

In terms of coaching talent...

1) Saban
2) Spurrier
3) Gus

You have to give top spot to Saban, Spurrier, Gus

Gus is probably the best schematic and gameday coach in the conference. Saban is probably the best recruiter, teacher, and disciplinarian.

I've been told somewhere behind Freeze, Mullen and Bert, but greater than or equal to Coker. Not sure how accurate that is.

I am honestly not trying to start a war with Bama fans in this thread, but I believe that Gus outcoached Saban in this year's IB. Remains to be seen if he can do that consistently.

I could agree with this.

No doubt. He did out coach Nick Saban and Kirby Smart. We'll see if it continues.

Agreed. But it's only one game. Gus's 2011 Auburn O didn't score a point against Bama, 2010 wasn't so much Gus as it was Cam being amazing, and 2009 Gus called a good game and nearly beat Bama. He's obviously a great in game coach, and most teams are going to have a hard time as long as he's calling plays.

Say Saban stays at Bama another 3-4 years

It is going to be a brutal battle in this state. Anyone disagree? Two HCs with different schemes run at their very best

I wish I could just fastforward to the Iron Bowl next year...I'm fricking intrigued to see what another year will bring with our offense and how Alabama adjusts

Miles stays ahead of Gus unless Gus wins the national championship this year. Then you can debate about which one is better. Thus, I would put him fourth behind Saban, Spurrier, and Miles.

The next few years of football in this state are shaping up to be very exciting. I hope it stays that way.

not to be confrontational but I don't think that year is on Gus. It was very clear that Gus was offered the Vandy job and turned it down before that season because he wanted to stay. But in 2011 you can see Chizik's ego get in the way of allowing Gus to run his offense and that is why he bolted to stAte asap
