Florida State's impressive bowl history vs. Auburn's "magic"

Longest bowl streak in the nation and it isn't even close. During that streak their bowl record is 23-7-1, including 5-0 in the last five.
FSU's BCS record is atrocious at 2-5. Record against the SEC in BCS Era is 1-3 (way to go, Carolina).
I want Auburn to win but FSU seems the most likely team to finally end the SEC's streak. Auburn has had a damn fine year since the LSU game but I don't see another miracle come January. This isn't the Ducks or Notre Dame. FSU is legit. I'm afraid the SEC streak is going to end in Pasadena.
Apparently, Vegas agrees as the lines started out with Auburn as a 8.5 point dog. Florida was a 7 point dog to Ohio State and they blew the doors off the Buckeyes. LSU was a 6.5 point dog to Oklahoma and held on for the win. Florida was a 5 point dog to Oklahoma (no respect for Urban, eh?). So Auburn is the biggest SEC dog in the BCS era but certainly not the first.
If the SEC streak has to come to an end, I won't be upset about FSU being the team that does it. I can respect what they've done over the years. So long as Auburn makes them earn it and doesn't get Nebraska'd like that other team from Florida did.

When has FSU played an SEC team in a bowl game in recent years? The only one I can think of is UGA in the Sugar Bowl in 2002.

History isn't going to mean shite once the ball is kicked

While I agree that it seems like FSU is a strong opponent, lumping 2010/11 Oregon in with Notre Dame is absurd.

I agree and that's why Auburn is an 8.5 point underdog.
Vegas is putting a lot of stock in how impressed they are with FSU's offense. Auburn is also mighty damn impressive but there hasn't been a team in the BCS era that looks more likely to beat the SEC than FSU.
It's actually great for Auburn to be such a big underdog. They wouldn't have it any other way.

I'll concede Notre Dame was a much bigger underdog (9.5 points) than Oregon was (2 points).
ETA: Here's more of the reasoning of why I say FSU is legit relative to Oregon and Notre Dame. They are basically a SEC team. Same caliber of players, same recruiting area and same coaching philosophy. They'll match up far better with a SEC school than Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon or Notre Dame (in their respective primes in the BCS era) would or did.
Jimbo Fisher built FSU with SEC template

Auburn has won 5 straight bowls and 8 of 9.
Auburn is 2-0 in BCS bowls, FSU I know they lost at least two.
Also FSU has had to vacate games in two seasons (cheaters)

That is impressive.
Clearly something has to give as somebody's 5 game bowl winning streak is going to end.

I'm not sure which Tiger you represent so here are my responses.
LSU fan: Well frick you, you losing to Clemson in that same bowl made the off-season unbearable last year.
Mizzou fan: Well frick you, 27-24
AU fan: Well frick you, if you guys hadn't beaten us in 2010 we wouldn't have had to play them.

Auburn will beat FSU by 10 points minimum. Bet accordingly.
