No need to thank me. If you insist, however, make all checks payable to the Red Elephant Clubs of Alabama.

He claimed he would win the Heisman as a true freshman.

So from reading this thread it appears that a few LSU fans think AJ is extremely overrated. All other fanbases, not so much

He's not the all time greatest QB in college football history or anything but he's a very good QB who has achieved a very rare level of success due to being part of a great program and also due to his leadership and excellent play. I would think the title of most overrated player would go to someone who, you know, didn't play well.

AJ10 is not over rated. He has been productive and has made very few mistakes.

It's easy to not make mistakes when your team has BIG lead and their is no need to force a ball.

Well, you have to remember that around here, "overrated" basically means "someone I don't like from a team I don't like" more than anything.

Perfect example:

Caveat: We lost, but it wasn't due to AJ's mistakes or bad play.

Leon Hart

Was a big time offensive line recruit who was supposed to win the Outland trophy 3 times.

Did a great job on the FG team during his time at AU.

This is a great way to describe him. Since it's being conceded he isn't an all time great, I suppose he's not overrated. But I've heard alot of people say he's an all time great, and in that sense, he's overrated. That's all.

All depends on what that person's definition of "all time great".

Top 5 QB in SEC History? Top 10? Top 25?

People try to quantify and label stuff that is impossible to quantify and label.

Why does it matter if someone is the GOAT or an "all time great"? Enjoy their accomplishments and wish them well in life.

I don't think there's been a single one of us (who wasn't in the middle of going full-blown homer) who has ever said that AJ was the best player of 2013.

We've said that he deserves to go to New York (he does)

We've said that he probably won't win (He won't)

We've said that he might backdoor his way into the award (He might very well have if we'd pulled out the IB win)

I've even gone so far as to claim that other players deserve it more.

But everyone knows that it's SECr standard operating procedure to completely fricking misrepresent something one delusional a-hole or a small group of delusional assholes might say and use it to castigate an entire fanbase.

We're used to it. We just use it as an opportunity to have our own fun.

When I made the OP though I was trying to talk about guys hyped up by their on field play, and not based on projections of play. So more so guys like AJ and Ingram, you know.... Alabama players.

So is this how we judge if someones overrated or not? How many times has he forced the ball somewhere? He's not Jameis fricking Winston.

He's been far more successful and better than any LSU QB in the past 5 years....that's for damn sure.
