I agree most likely scenario:

BCS: Aubie/Mizzou, Bama
Cap One: USC
Cotton: Aubie/Mizzou
Outback: LSU
Peach: A&M
Gator: UGA

If Mizzou wins the SECCG though it may mix things up and the Cap One may take them. If that happens the Cotton will be awfully tempted to take LSU over USC no matter what that article says, LSU is a guaranteed sellout and unlike most bowls it isn't an ESPN game so they care less about ratings. LSU vs Baylor or especially Texas will make the Cotton folks cream their pants.

Then it gets messy because after the Cotton it become all about selling tickets and even moreso ratings and less about wins/losses. ESPN broadcasts the rest of the games and pays the bills so they will pick the matchups they think they can make the most on. Still likely means USC to Outback, A&M to Chicken but who knows. JFF is ratings gold.

I'm fine with Outback/Chicken/Gator for A&M. Probably the only matchup I would rather not have is Clemson in the Chicken just because it is almost a home game for them and they matchup with us really well. Might make it fun though but certainly a riskier game. I think we crush any Big 1G team we play pretty easily or Duke.

Per multiple Carolina pay sites our bowl destination is down to two spots...Either Cap One or Cotton. It has been stated that the Cotton really wants Carolina/Spurrier. They are reporting the Outback and Carolina do not want each other as it would be the 4th trip and a back to back visit in such a short time frame. Carolina's AD has made it very clear that Carolina is fine with Cap One or Cotton but to fall to the Chicken Bowl would be "unjustified based on record and ranking."

I just don't see a scenario where USC goes to the Cotton.

Its rumored that the Outback wants LSU and would swap picks with the Cotton. If anyone looks at the Cotton Bowl fb page and twitter accounts you can really see where most Carolina fans want to go. I believe we are having FL fatigue and fatigue against playing crappy B1G teams.

I believe the Outback is the SEC "stop gap" bowl this year for the SECCG loser.

This year the Cotton Bowl is the SECCG loser safety net. Rumor is that the Cotton Bowl wants either LSU or USCe. If true, then the SECCG loser would likely wind up in the Capital One Bowl.

If Wisconsin is the Big 10 representative in the Outback Bowl, then it's unlikely that LSU will end up there. We open next season against them in Houston. If LSU's AD allows this to happen then he needs to be prepared to eat the cost of a lot of tickets, because I don't see much fan interest in playing the same team twice in a row.

One other scenario that I could see happening though I don't think it would be right at all.

Auburn/Mizzou goes Cap One
Texas beats Baylor

If that happens the Cotton would sell their mother's soul for an A&M/Texas matchup.

If the Cotton took 8-4 A&M over 10-2 USCe or 9-3 LSU, it wouldn't be right, but it's all about selling tickets.

Cotton is definitely the most appealing bowl for me. You get a Big 12 matchup, you get to go somewhere new (assuming you don't go to Dallas a lot), and you get a traditional bowl. I don't think the Cotton is as good pound for pound as the CFA, and it is technically below the Cap One, but I too dislike the FL bowls. Orlando is so boring, and the Big 10 sucks unless you get UM or OSU.

I think that is what Ray Tanner is in such an uproar about ... and who can blame him.

But here's the problem as I understand it.

Winner of SECCG, plus Bama, are going BCSing.

Next pick, Cap One, is supposed to take the SECCG loser which would either be Mizzou or Auburn. Mizzou has never been and Auburn has not been since 2005 but has been three times since '92 expansion. So either of those schools would be attractive for the Cap One.

Now it gets down to the nitty gritty. Auburn, Bama, Mizzou are spoken for in the first three selections.

Then comes the Outback and Cotton. Those two will choose from SCAR, A&M and LSU, with SCAR being the highest ranked of the three in the BCS. But, as already stated, there is a fatigue factor involved with the Outback - they love us but do not want to see us down there again this year. So the Outback is going to take LSU in all likelihood.

The Peach has been going crazy trying to get Ray Tanner to agree to be happy to come to Atlanta to face Duke. And Steve Spurrier has no problems with that. But higher-ups, our AD Ray Tanner and some of our BoTs, do have a problem with that and they've now let the Chick-fil-A and the SEC offices know about it ... not an easy thing to do when Truitt Cathy has been such an ardent supporter of the Gamecocks and has kids and grandkids who are Gamecock alumni, but it is what it is. Still, the Truitt's are lobbying hard for SCAR to come to Atlanta - at least they were up through and until Thanksgiving - I don't know after that.

What I do know, as of about an hour ago, is that things have changed drastically in terms of the SEC home office now advocating for us to go to the Cotton ... so I do believe we're now looking good for the Cotton and that Ray Tanner, earlier this afternoon, told someone that it would be nice not to have to leave to go bowling until after Christmas, without rushing, and that everyone would be able to travel home for Christmas this year for a change ... and he seemed positive and excited that it was going to happen. (Since the Cotton is not played until the 3rd.)

It'll be interesting to see how well our fans travel to Dallas if we do go to the Cotton Bowl. Thats a helluva lot longer trip than ATL is.

Why would the SEC home office push hard for USCe in the Cotton Bowl? Your AD may be pushing hard to avoid another trip to Tampa, but I'm sure that LSU is pushing just as hard not to have to play Wisconsin in January and then again in August. LSU would bring more fans to Dallas than USCe, if only because of the geographic proximity and the large LSU alumni bases in both Dallas and Houston. I doubt that Tiger fans would travel well to Tampa for a morning bowl game, so LSU is looking at having to eat the cost of unpurchased tickets for the 2nd straight year. I would think they'd want to avoid that if at all possible.

Yes, but everybody knows the SEC Offices hate LSU right?

LSU makes a LOT more sense for the Cotton than USC outside of the difference in records.

We're not going back to Tampa though. It'd be the third time in the past 6 years and the 5th time since 2000.

And I'm guessing the SEC office would push for USC to go to the Cotton because it'd be a better matchup than LSU

Yep. Last time they took a team from the East was UT in 04 or 05
