Just so I get this right, you are saying if a receiver goes past 3 yards and runs into a defender to block him, its a penalty?
It CAN BE a foul, but it depends entirely on where and when the contact occurs. In this case, it's not a foul.

One play in one game - and you lost. It'll be okay.

Call names and talk about ANYTHING but the subject of the original post.
I cited the article hell I cited the rule.
An eligible receiver cannot be downfield blocking a defender on a pass over the LOS.
Prosch was at least 5 yards downfield when the pass was released.
I wish I could see the other side of the field,a field shot because it appears you may have had someone downfield even farther doing the same thing.
The purpose of the play is to deceive the DB's into coming up seeing the run blocking downfield ahead of them.
The pass itself was legal. The Olineman were borderline but I would have to say legal.
Prosch was NOT. He screened off CJ Mosley keeping him from getting to Marshall then continued to do so downfield preventing him from getting between Marshall and Coates.
Offensive pass interference. Nothing to be done about it now but in the future when you run this and you will it needs to draw a flag.

and for those of you that didn't read the article:
important part of this:
closer:
lotz of innuendos in this article.. saweeeeeet
oh yeah, this guy even called him an eligible receiver.. at least they are coming around on THAT part of it.
How long til they realize the ball wasn't thrown anywhere close to the FB, and their precious Mosley was probably the one pushing and holding Prosch in order to keep Prosch from being able to go out for anything.. which ended up backfiring on em?!?!
oh wait, this is anti we are talking about

In an email response to a request for an interpretation of the rule, the Southeastern Conference said, “It is not offensive pass interference when, after the snap, an ineligible receiver immediately charges and contacts an opponent at a point not more than 1 yard beyond the neutral zone and does not continue the contact more than 3 yards beyond the neutral zone.”
Prosch was an eligible receiver and he was making contact with a defender 5 yards down field. Mosley was not able to get to Marshall and Alabama’s defensive back had to come up to try to make the tackle on Marshall, who passed over his head to a wide-open Coates.

LOL watch the block, Prosch shifted to screen Mosley inside there is no evidence of a hold on the play.
And if you can read the primary point here that I have made repeatedly is Prosch was an eligible receiver blocking downfield on a pass thrown over the LOS.
Offensive Pass interference.

I knew we couldn't get through the day without some LSU fan mentioning the Peterson interception that wasn't.

OH and as to your point about where the ball was thrown....Mosley was on the same side of the field as the passer trying to make a play.
They call holding away from the ball all the time.
They call blocking in the back away from the ball all the time and yes they call pass interference away from the ball all the time.

I am going to agree with you that it SHOULD have been a flag. I think all you really want is someone to see your point anyway. I do believe that the refs missed the call because they were as surprised as bama was when he threw it.
Now I have agreed with you for two days in a row but you have to let this go brah.

Ok I read it. There are some valid points made to Prosch being downfield on the block. Congrats on your moral victory. I hope it makes you feel a little better about yourself today. Be sure to save that article and stick it in your wallet because when you see the kick six played back again and again year after year for years to come you will want a copy close at hand to be able to pull to reassert your moral victory.

They did miss the call this is correct and I agree nothing to do about it now except.....
Both AU and Aggy run this play. Run with eligible receivers blocking downfield past the neutral zone
how is a DB supposed to react?
Nick Saban made this very point. I agree.Officials pregame need to be made aware to watch for this and flag them when they run it.
