Yes it's serious. Hear me out. I just mean there is value added to the mystery...at least in the first half and in some cases for a few games. A few very important early season games.
Look at the impact Moreno had his first year compared to the next. I'm not saying Mason will have that success but not knowing can throw a defense off. At least Moreno had a full season to shape the landscape. Mason will have two games that will mean nothing to the bulldawg nation but game experience for our young defense and new QB.
Will two games against poor comp add the same or more value? I'm not so sure.

Alright then fella, let's hear your alternative. We have to play a QB the next 2 games, so if you want to save our secret weapon Mason until next year, who should we start? Bauta? A walkon? Lemay?

PLUS... it's not like we start with Elon, Buffalo & App. St. next year...We come outta the chute with 2 probable Top 10 teams in Clem & SCjr a cupcake and then UT, Vandy & another Top 20 in Mizzou...
Mason needs all the experience he can get...

Spread offense at UGA is nothing new.
It's essentially the offense we ran with DJ Shockley all season.
We'll go away from the spread when we are deep in our own territory or in the redzone. But expect us in a spread offense between the 20s.
(Right now, we start with an I formation or deep tailback with a tight end on the first drive, then we change on the second drive, and we change on the third drive. We usually have the spread offense within our first 3 drives).

Mason's strengths are quick release, accuracy, and height (which helps a lot on underneath throws that a qb can't get up and down over a defender without the higher release point).
Mason's question marks are reading blitzes, handling pressure, and keeping calm and accurate despite getting beat up by a 4 man pass rush. A lot of that is how quickly and accurately he goes through reads.
Spreading a defense out helps identify the blitz. It gives him more time to identify coverages in reads. It helps his throwing lanes on quick throws.
It is essentially the same offense he ran in high school which broke all of those state records.
And we can run from this formation with Gurley (lord knows that Lattimore killed us from the spread formation).

I just wasn't as satisfied seeing Gurley recieving all night rather than running the ball. Anybody else get that?
Gurleys ankle is still not 100%. Running straight ahead is ok but cuts are difficult and where it can be reinjured. Passing to him gets him open quicker where he can use his speed more effectively.

Yeah Bauta! He gives us the change up and talent we need to finish the season and I want to see the added runner. I'm not saying leave Mason out completely I'm saying give them a good mix and test them both so we come into the season with two more experienced options (pocket passer and trip opt)but not give away all his abilities or play scheme. If it backfires and we lose who cares? We still get a bowl game. If it works out like I think it will we show our recruits what to look forward too.
Now don't get me wrong... I'd love to see Bobo put "Hutson Manning" out there and pound the gnats and any Lil 10/12 team out there. I just think we need to show restraint and not our hand too early, because like you said we have Clemson and USC to kick off the season. They are good enough to capitolize on any info we give them.
Case in point, Boyd checking our guys out and taking notes at the Gday game if I'm correct. Despite Boyd's absense we don't need to help who's left.
That being said, it won't happen. Bobo will predictably play Mason the entire game unless he sucks it up bad or he gets us way ahead early.

As he should, because he's not retarded.

Georgia pretty much killed my inner fire. I also know that our issues, while plentiful, are on the defensive and STs sides and I must devote my ire that way. Once those units are brought back from the verge of irrelevance then, and only then, will I begin harping on Bobo again
That and, I mean, the guy has pretty much done everything I have begged of him. Do I think Georgia was lazy in hiring him? You betcha. Does he have a propensity to take his foot off the pedal at the worst times and then he can't figure out how to get it restarted. Yup. But when your house is on fire upstairs you don't focus on the spilled milk in the kitchen

I mean, not to say all of that is wrong (even though it's all wrong) but when has a team EVER had a QB available, who's also their best option to win, but instead kept him on the bench to "hide" their future?
I mean, dude, this is pure nonsense

Next year, just run a variation of the wing t with Gurley, Marshall, Chubb, and Quayvon in. There would be several official time outs so the the defense could clean the shore outa their pants!

Don't forget Michel, kid is gonna be as good if not better. I know our fans wanna hype Chubb but there is a reason teams are still going balls to the while for Sony
I think it'd be funny next year to run the tripel option vs GT and beat them at their own HS game

Let's see if Quayvon can figure out the playbook by then.
Also, why would you want to have a srictly run oriented attack with perhaps the best WR corp in the country?
Mitchell,Wesley,Conley,Bennett,Rumph and Terry

Not sure why you'd include these 2 in the "best corp in america", one has never played a snap and the other didn't get a single play in a blowout against kentucky because of how little he knows the playbook.

Okay, okay you got me. It's all BS. I'm just bored out of my mind in this jail cell they call an office and I needed to light a fire in this BEOTCH! Playing devils advocate to the obvious choice.
I can't wait to see a full game with Mason. Our sneak peak for next season! Like I said earlier I read an article last year where the players were calling him "Hudson Manning" cause he's calling plays and directing traffic like Peyton. Kid knows the PB.

Yeah, but we weren't really spread back then. I always thought Mason would be more of an under center guy.

Ok, fooled me
In that case I think we should just start Gurley at QB. No one will have any idea what to do...

I have been disappointed before, a lot for that matter, but for some reason I feel good about this kid. He's not the most talented dawg but he's gonna have one of the best supporting casts that a Georgia QB has ever had and he's been in the system forever. Here's to hoping Hutson Manning can be our Tee Martin
