And just give everyone five years of eligibility from the year they enroll. If they transfer the year they sit out would count as one of the five years.

There's been talk of allowing 6 years of eligibility.

What's wrong with the system now?

The redshirt system isn't broken, why mess with it?

If someone gets hurt late in the year you would not have to burn a red shirt to replace him.

Where?

Jake Holland for six years. frick that. How about no redshirt and keep the 4 years like a normal college student.

I actually agree with you. The red shirt is stupid.

If I'm not mistaken, it was first proposed by Tommy Tuberville. But like all eligibility changes, the NCAA drags it feet for years.

make it 4 years and offer an medical redshirt for frickers that break their legs.

This sounds like a horrible idea

Agreed. The idea of a redshirt that's not injury related is retarded.

There are already cases of a 6th year being granted. It's all a matter of how many games are played and if those games are limited because of multiple non-related injury.

DT Shackelford will probably be back next year and that will be his 6th year. Medical RS.

This. AJ McCarron redshirted in 2009, yet if McElroy would of had to leave the BCSNC game vs Texas due to injury, AJ would have been in the game. Had that happened his eligibility would have ended after last season. I'm still amazed that didn't happen, considering the injury Greg had in that game.

I agree, 5 year eligibility, but I don't think you should have to sit out a year if you transfer.

Allow 6 years IMO.
