if it played out similar, none of those teams would have gone. USC and OK were 1/2 all season.
Georgia was 3rd preseason and LSU was 4th preseason (and defending national champs and had beaten Oklahoma in the BCSCG the year before). Given how close Auburn got (starting out in the teens and getting to a virtual tie with Oklahoma late in the season), I think either of these teams might have overtaken Oklahoma. Particularly LSU.

The SEC didn't have what it's got now, major respect
Not sure any other SEC team could've jumped USC or Oklahoma back then. Both these 2 programs were media darlings in the early 2000's if we're honest about things. Auburn should've at least been given a chance to prove itself at seasons end. Hopefully the new playoff system stops things like this because many good teams haven't gotten that same chance throughout CFB history. Would like to see 6 total teams with the 2 top programs getting a earned bye the 1st playoff week.

Good ole fashioned Barner hate from a Bammer
I like it
I wish the rivalry with Tennessee was the same
it really is a shame it has diminished into one of the least known rivary games of the year

So when the AP and USA Today and BCS #1 and #2 remain undefeated and way better than Auburn all year (USC and OK), no one jumps them.
e.t.a. to add for truthfullness

Until joining the SEC I had no idea it was a rivalry at all.

I've lived the majority of my life in Nashville and know dozens of UT fans/grads and have never in my life heard of the "Third Saturday in October".
We knew they hated each other because of the whole Phil being a snitch thing, but that's where it ended
UT fans have always seemed (to me) to get more hyped to play Florida

Does it bother you that even if Auburn goes undefeated, there is still a good chance that they wont play for the NC?
Nope because I'm not a inbred redneck who needs the validation of others or the national acceptance of my favorite football team made up of 18-22 year old guys to find self-worth in my life.
I would much rather go 13-0 than win a "national championship" after losing to Arkansas and Kentucky or after not even winning my own conference. But that's because I'm not a loser. Something you wouldn't understand.

Remember when alabama was back to back national champions in 64 and 65 then went undefeated in 66 and still didn't win the title behind two teams that tied?
Haha, yea that would never happen to alabama. Oh wait...

Sorry your entire premise was destroyed. It's ok though exit the trailer, smoke a few Marlboro Reds, gather yourself, come back and try again.

While it wasn't a BCS nathional championship year, the 1966 undefeated crimpsun tied team says "huh?"
BTW, I know Randy Savage already beat me to this, but IDGAF.
