The verdict on Coach Miles complete, even though the book not finished?

An OP just a few minutes ago (whacked for some odd reason, not sure why) assumed the Miles/Saban back and forth over, tDecline real. It certainly seems the case to many, particularly to many of faithful on TD. I don't know if this is due to a lack of through thick and thin, an attention span not easily kept, or that the sentiment is what is simply true. Coach Miles has at least 4 more seasons here, so much can happen, for good or for bad.
To me the problem is:
1) some guys not playing their hardest, taking naps during the game...in short motivation.
2) Talent. The guys taking the place of those who left early are simply not as good, on the D side.
3) A problem within the program that I can't quite put my finger on, can't put into words properly. It was demonstrated during the most disappointing part of the UA game (for me). The last series the OL simply bailed on Zach. When he was hurt on last play it seemed only one guy made a half hearted attempt to help him up. The trainers appeared to be on break. When Mett did get up, it looked like he purposely walked away from Miles.
Perhaps I'm making too much of it, but I really think the next 2 weeks is critical for CLM's tenure. Are the guys going to play with fire, run the ball hard and finish strong against A&M, Hogs and bowl opponent?
My case for optimism:
1)What is lost in all the fire starting is that our O has improved by leaps and bounds, as a whole. There is every reason to think this will continue, despite some losses to NFL, due to Coach Cameron having more time in, the guys having more time with him.
2) There is not one junior on the D side that has any business leaving early. More experience coming back, plus another year older and stronger will be a boon for 2014.
3) A strong finish (a bowl win is critical, to reverse the current trend) would set the stage to take a good run at in 2014.
Thoughts? More just wanted to get it out of my system but opinions are of course welcome.

Anthony Johnson will leave along with Ego Fergeson Thats two DTs along with Loston, a Sr and the starting Safety. That will be 3 starters that leave on the defense.
I think the defense will continue to struggle until 2013-2014 recruiting classes get bigger and more experience.

Maybe this is just a Bama 2010 type year for ya'll?
I hope so, the SEC is a better place when LSU and Bama are both elite.

Massive.
If we drop one to A&M and drop the bowl game, it will/might have serious impacts for the future.

Bama is badass. Broke the teams will at the end. So what, Les Miles got punked by Saban. It happens. Saban is the best coach in the game.

Personally I agree; The SEC is stronger when LSU is playing their best. If LSU is' nt respected, then ESPN/ ABC would not spend millions to showcase all the LSU and Bama Talent on the field. We pick at you guys on here, but I for one want to see LSU succeed. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

I disagree. TAF won't let him stay that long unless he rights the ship. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort of rainy day fund being put together to buy him out if needed. He most certainly shouldn't get any more contract extensions or raises anytime soon. If the TAF big wigs lose confidence in him, his days will be numbered. I don't think they will permit the program to return to the mediocrity of the past.

In my opinion, it's a combination of everyone not being on the same page, a lack of complete discipline, and a lack of leadership from players.
Everyone blames coaches first. OK. Miles should take some of the blame but mainly because he seems to be too much of a player's coach.
Look at some of our best players/leaders of the past few years. Jefferson, Mathieu, and Hill. All got in trouble off of the field when they are supposed to be setting the example in the locker room. I would imagine the players who work their asses off and do the right things weren't thrilled with the numerous chances they received. Fans want it both ways. They bitch when the team is undisciplined but bitch at Miles for punishing those better players too harshly. IMO Miles had a chance with Hill to set a new tone and punish him more severely than he did.
To summarize, Miles needs to keep his personality but increase his discipline a bit. The players need to step up and take control of the lockerroom and hold each other accountable no matter who fricks up. Need leaders. The coaches need to work as a unit and locate that hunger and passion from 2011
