tiptop25 does and that is the most detailed objective look at every national champion anywhere.

As I said you have admitted many times AU got robbed in 1983.

Go bother someone else if you are that bored.

I'm guessing this is your first day of school, national championships were determined by a poll of sportswriters since 1936, if you don't agree with the process, that's ok.
That does not make them bogus, they did what they did. It wasn't until ESPN that this was questioned and the BCS series was formed. Later they started the CFP, all were accepted in their day UPI, API, BCS, CFP. They may come up with a new system next week but still does not illegitimize previous champions. I have watched Alabama win 11 and all were legitimate.

Play that game 10 times, AU wins 7. Play it at the end of the season instead of beginning, AU wins 8 or 9. Oh and that neutral site loss was to the team AU dominated on the road the second to last game of the season.

Lol atleast we know you are a true Auburn fan, gotta respect it. Kinda

Texas players (mostly on defense) were "puking their guts out" in the 4th quarter as described after the game.

We ran a wishbone with literally quite possibly the best backfield in the history of college football in 1983. #1 and #2 overall NFL draft picks (and Heisman winner). A guy who set the single season NFL all purpose yards record, a record that stood for almost 20 years. A guy who started for the Cowboys and has two super bowl rings. A guy who put played in 44 career games and was drafted by the Bears. And finally a guy who put up over 800 career yards but was not drafted.

In case you weren't counting, we had 5 NFL running backs carry the ball in 1983, plus a 6th guy who was pretty dang good.

Dye came out with the damn air raid in the first half to surprise Texas. Called it the worst coaching job of his 40 years in football as a player and coach. Said if he had realized the Texas defense would be on the sideline puking from running it at them in the second half he would have run it up their arse all 4 quarters. Granted we had receivers wide open all over the field in the first half, but we had a qb who could only throw a wounded duck about 20 yards.

Anyway, yeah, play that game over, AU runs it right up their arse and wins about 24-10.

You can't say that. First of all Bo Jackson said he "felt like he was stampeded on by a herd of cattle" after the game. When you got down by 20 points in that era the game was over. It didn't matter what Auburn did in the 2nd half.

If Aubie gets a do over how about Nebraska. Miami in their home stadium raced out to a 17-0 lead, but Nebraska straight beat down Miami in the 4th quarter. If they had kicked the extra point on their last TD, Auburn would have no argument.

Texas lost the Cotton Bowl on a fumbled punt. If their returner fair catches the ball they win the title.

These scenarios are way more believable than anything you posit. Sorry about Auburn tough schedule but there's no claim Auburn can make that can't be refuted. Nebraska who got more 1st place votes than Auburn can make a better claim for a shared title.

Yeah all of those are what ifs we are throwing out right now.

However, the factual and actual are Auburn played a MUCH tougher schedule than anyone else, accomplished much more on the field, and ended up with one loss, same as Nebraska, Miami, and Texas.

It is sorta like saying a 1 loss mountain west team that has 1 quality win is the national champ over a 1 loss SEC team with 5 quality wins.

It is ludicrous and AU was the true national champ in 1983.

Discussion is over, I have won.

Better luck next time gumps. Just remember to lower your expectations of winning any sort of debate against one of your intellectual superiors (basically almost everyone and certainly all Aubies I suppose).

Until next time...

AU 1983 national champion signing off.
