Missouri and WVU lost, UGA didn't make the SECT (got an at-large) while LSU won it that week, Kansas (got an at-large) didn't make the Big 12 title game, and Virginia Tech (got an at-large) got skullfricked by LSU that year.

And yes of course there was luck involved in getting to the title game (was that ever in question). Also, West VA lost that same weekend.

Well clearly you don't, because we beat kU that season and they went to the Orange Bowl ahead of us anyway. We went 12-2 that season, both of our losses were to Oklahoma. It was bullshite.
