Looks like the UT Football Season is falling apart! The Famous Band is in revolt over the season, and it's longtime band director has been put down by UT Admin. Ominous times in Knoxville, to say the least:

"We fully support the Pride of the Southland Band," Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek said in Monday’s release. "But lately it's been plain to see that there'll be fewer opportunities to play "Rocky Top", so we're reviewing the possibility of doing away with the band."

With opportunities to play Rocky Top dwindling annually over the past decade, he probably cracked under the pressure.

This has been on the news locally. Seems like the AD and the band director really came to verbal blows about how the dead time in the football games was going to be filled. The game presentation/ops side of the argument was trying to limit how often the band played during games, and fill that previous space with canned music, while the band director aired very public complaints that the football program/athletic department was trying to limit the band's effectiveness and airplay. I guess the band director learned that it's not a good career decision to pick a fight with your employer.

UTK fans, is that about right?

Hmmmm...so anyone who wants to publicly criticize a high ranking state official is "disrespectful". Surprised they didn't call him insubordinate too.

fricking fascist.

I'd be more than okay with Alabama hiring him

There are consequences for insubordination. Sousa decided he wanted to air the dirty laundry in public. Not surprising that Dave Hart decided to let him know who is running the AD.
