"Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban hasn't been a fan of the hurry-up, no-huddle offense, but that doesn't mean he won't eventually give it a try.
"It's something we're going to look at. I think we'll have to," Saban told ESPN.com on Thursday. "I think we need to play faster and will have to do more of that going forward. The only reason we haven't done more of it to this point is that our guys seem to play better when we don't [go fast] just because it's been our style and we've had reasonably good success moving the ball and running the ball."

Watch him try this, fail miserably, and lose the game Saturday because of it.

Saban is smart enough to realize the direction football is moving and what he has to do to keep up with the Gus Bus

I would think he was speaking of going forward...not that he was thinking of implementing it this Saturday.

He ran it at times with great success in the game against A&M

He sees the writing on the wall and knows his offense is going to have to carry the team this year.

saban tried something new offensively in 2007, and it was a failure... then in 2008 he went back to what he knows.
don't get cute would be my advice (like saban needs any).

Can't run the ball consistently this year. Have to try something different

This is more opportunity for AJ to blow a gasket. His mindset has been fragile since the breakup so I hope we don't.

I agree. To Hell with hunh. Run the ball and play great D, with timely passing/play action.
I think was just recruiting different types of QB's in the distant future.

Just putting to bed a few of the concerns they have about him in Austin.
He was told he needed to show that he could be flexible in order to be considered for the job.

I think this article hits on what I like least about the HUNH: it takes a lot of the "chess match between coaches" feel away from the game. Football has always been different and interesting to me because the coaches can affect the game in real time so much more than in other sports, and the HUNH makes it more like basketball or soccer in that way. On the other hand, I'm sure I'll learn to appreciate it when my team begins running more of it.

To be fair, it really didn't matter what tempo he wanted to use against us. We weren't going to stop Bama anyways

saban employed a high powered passing attack in 01 at LSU bc our d was swiss cheese

quote:You can do that and still go HUNH.
Run the ball and play great D, with timely passing/play action.
