I agree that there's nothing wrong with being different. I just think that the most significant difference between Ole Miss and MSU are the fact that they are different Universities with a few different areas of study - at least moreso than some kind of bright line division between a generalized version of the people who go to them. That shouldn't diminish the rivalry at all. And it isn't some PC way of saying we should all get along.
You nailed it.
What's the actual difference between a doctor and a veterinarian? What's the difference between Pre-Med and Biomed Engineering? You can go down the line doing the same thing...
People cling to the old stereotypes as an easy way to define the rivalry, which we are all guilty of at some point. Alot has changed in the last 130 years...

But I'd be damned if we don't know how to have a good time on Bolivar County back roads with a fifth of whiskey. Moral of the story: The Delta runs the Landmass.

Cleveland was one of my favorite college towns when I was in school.
I know that sounds nuts.
I was a hipster and into house parties and also that was back when Cleveland still had the Farmhouse and a LOT of indie bands would come through Cleveland. I saw fricking AWESOME Japanther show there.

True story, one of best friends from Greenwood cock blocked himself using this term one night in Zorbas.
Decent looking white girl came up and started talking to him. He asked where she was from. Conversation went like this:
Her: Memphis
Him: Oh you're from Memphrica
Her: Ummm yea by the way these are my 2 black friends :pointsto2blackgirlsbehindher:
Him: (stuttering) oh, that's cool what's up
Her: So are you a racist?
Him: um errr umm no not at all I was just joking.
Her: So where are you from?
Him: The Delta
Her: Go frick yourself. Bye

And the fact that the biggest (basically only clique) at Ole Miss is the Mississippi one??
Well I'll be damned who woulda thunk it? The largest population of people at a Mississippi school are from Mississippi. Total shocker bro

I'd say about 70 percent of both schools student bodies are basically the same type of people.
The other 30% at each are very different and are the reason for the majority of the perceived differences.
The 30% at State includes redneck as frick dudes, and grungy hippie types (not hipsters)
The 30% at Ole Miss includes extreme fratter douchebags, OOS pill head ragers, and gays.

You'd be surprised at how many of these we have at MSU now.

I know you do, but they don't stick out nearly as bad.
