But Johnson, born and raised in the Southern German city to an American father and a German mother, was seen by a former American college player when he played for his club team, The Stuttgart Scorpions, last season and advised him to give the American version of football a shot in the states.
"I just started researching what I'd have to do to play here in America so I took the ACT and the SAT and got registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse, Johnson said. "At first, I tried to get a scholarship right away out of Germany and I even got some responses from some colleges because I literally wrote an email to every FBS school in America with my highlight tape attached to it. I researched all of that. I got some responses but they mostly said come and prove yourself on American soil."
"Since Tennessee offered me more schools have started to talk to me," Johnson said. "I don't think anyone knew about me before Tennessee offered me."
"I know that they've got a really big stadium," Johnson offered. "I don't really know much about any school here in America. What I know about Tennessee is they have Tennessee whiskey or something. That's basically all I know." "I would love to take a visit there. I would really love to," Johnson said. "My family is starting to teach me more about the schools around here and I watched the Tennessee-Florida game when it was on yesterday. I'm starting to do my research on that and starting to get to know a little bit more about the colleges around here."
Latest update...since recieving a Vol offer, Jakob has heard from FSU and Miami, claiming both schools are close to offering.

I also read somewhere where there is like a Sweden qb who is playing his first year in Cali in high school. He is I'll try to find his profile

That's pretty cool. I like that football is expanding internationally.

2015 has a top recruit from Denmark, played in Ohio last year, but moved back this year. He's flying all the way to Arkansas next week for the South Carolina game.

He actually is flying in to visit michigan, michigan state, ohio state, and Arkansas. But that is awesome.

I figured he was going to be making more than one visit, but that's a loooooooong trip.

I wonder how OV's work with kids out of country. That seems like it might be pretty tough to organize. 5 trips across the Atlantic in a couple of months might be rough.

Since the OP, Jakob has been rated a 247 and 247 composite ****. He falls just outside the top 247 at 257 overall.

Tennessee is considered to be the leader, holding a slight edge over Wisconsin. Our coaching staff plans on flying to Germany to meet with his parents.

LB being the most loaded position for us going into NsD, It's hard to imagine taking Johnson even if Bryant doesn't make grades.
With all these guy still on board with more positional significance or instate ties:
Malone
Mosely
Reed
Thompson
Dixon
McClendon
Could be wrong, but it's hard to see it with 1 spot left

No gray shirt for that kid. The kid is a player. 6-4 and gets to the football fast. Definitely a take if he wants in. I'm really surprised more people haven't offered him, plus he's an early enrollee.

Butch must be planning on Weatherd or Bryant eventually flipping. Or grey shirting Dews.

Yep, that's him. He moved to the United States back in July and currently is at Jacksonville's Ribault High School. Pretty much everyone I've spoken with about Johnson thinks he's a really good player. I've talked with at least a couple of people who think he's definitely one of the best linebackers in the country in the 2014 class.
Johnson still has room to develop, like most players coming out of high school. But he has great size, good athleticism and, by all accounts, tremendous character. I think he's the type of player you pretty much have to take if you're Tennessee.
Guess I was wrong
