I'd rather have neither. Chants are better when they are spontaneous. Also, most chants/cheers done at football games are dumb. Just yell and clap.

you're full of shite. any objective person merely has to look at top teams long term record and see that there's absolutely no truth in what you say. any statistian would easily find no correlation at all. BUT, you say it's true. you are making that up bud.

Well if pvilleguru says it's dumb, I guess that's what it is, y'all.

People.
Your schools have cute little female cheerleaders. TAMU has male Yell Leaders. Deal with it.
Your arrangement certainly has its aesthetic advantages. The TAMU system does a much better job of organizing 80,000 fans into a synchronized wall of sound. Ask yourself which system is more likely to assist the guys wearing the pads and helmets in their efforts to win the game. That IS the goal, is it not?
BTW, I am fairly certain that each of your schools also has male cheerleaders, and those that I have seen (across the board) look far more effiminate than the Yell Leaders.
BTW one of this year's Yell Leaders is a 12-year Army veteran with two tours in Iraq and father of two small children.
By contrast, a female friend of mine who was a cheerleader at Texas tells me that not one of her male teammates was batting from the right side of the plate. But they sure did like those brightly-colored polyester costumes.
So, who has more homosexuals on the sidelines? (not that there is anything wrong with that)

You can't defend that level of gay. Good try but c'mon man... you know that BS is over the top.

Any objective person would know better than to take a statistician's "findings" by themselves as proof of ANYTHING. Those guys can make numbers say whatever they want. I have personally witnessed it.
Either way, you are left with a chicken and egg dilemma. Did the "good team" make the crowd loud and rowdy or did the loud and rowdy crowd make the team "good"?

Why do we have to? Its 2013 not 1973.

We (Texas A&M University) didn't create the doll.
But don't let that fact get in the way of a good rant.

I'm calling bullshite on this. I've never met a male cheerleader who wasn't heterosexual. I'm sure they're out there, but I just haven't come across any.

It's not unusual, UMTigerRebel.
A good family friend of ours is male.
He's a former cheerleader; now owns his own cheerleading gym(?).
He does not prefer the ladies.

Did you go to either of the Ole Miss/texas games?
If so, then you have, in fact, come across some
Kidding
Not really.

aTm didn't create it but they sure as hell signed off on it's production and negotiated a licensing fee. Don't act like it was just some random act.

I worked for UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) for 5 years as an instructor, and never met any. Like I said, I'm sure they're out there, but it's not the norm.
ETA:
Well TBH, Texas is not the norm, so I wouldn't doubt this.
