I have been around the board since last year and I know this phrase means "This has already been posted", but can someone explain to me what the reference is? Im thinking it could be an Animal House reference but I honestly dont know. Just kinda wondering the origin is all.
Would ask on tRant but it would just be a flamefest.

When someone says something that has already been said before, the response is usually a sarcastic "In other news, man lands on the moon/Dewey defeats Truman/Germans invade Poland" etc. implying the OP has missed the boat big time.
Over time, the internet morphed it into shite like "Germans bomb the moon" and it just gets shortened to "Germans" now.

This question is Germans.
Thanks for asking, as I had no idea where this came from, either. And Animal House is from MY day, not these young whippersnappers.

yes, it originates from the Belushi line "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

WAY off topic, but I'm liquored up, so bear with me. Senior year, CO of a company of misfits. We built a wall of Copenhagen cans at one end of the hall behind which most seniors lived, which was against the housing rules. Papered the walls with Animal House posters behind the wall, which was against the housing rules. Built a bed below the window at the end of the hall for seniors to crash on, which was against the housing rules. So there I was after 48 hours of no sleep, crashed on that bed. And here comes the housing guy plus the Corps Commandant, who shouts "Who's in charge here?", which woke me up. "Umm..."

You don't see many movies as good as his these days.
Blues Brothers and Animal House are two of my all time favorites.
His brother is pretty damn funny himself, my mom loves Mr. Destiny.
