The honest answer is that you're close already, but the flood of bravado and "Texas superiority" has resulted in more resistance than normal.

Honestly we have behaved better than I thought we would.

So many say they would have prefered it, but yall would die if Texas would have joined instead. Our arrogance but on roids with a sense of entitlement on top. They would be telling Bama how to act.

If Slive tried to bring in the Whorns, I'd cut a secret deal with Mexico to give Texas back before it could happen.

Of course, they may play hardball and make me throw in New Mexico to agree to re-annex you, but that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Two wrongs don't make a right and being the second biggest douche bag dicks in the state of Texas is no excuse either.

No sensible person, especially after seeing Texas' attitude during the first search for potential expansion teams, would want Texas in the SEC.

While we are all rivals, the simple fact of the matter is, at the top, the schools work together. It works out best if we send a school to the title game, and another to a BCS bowl. Money drives the world 'round.

We wanted a new TV market; A&M gave us that. Texas does nothing to expand on that, we already have that foothold in the state. Next would be the markets of VA and NC, if we REALLY wanted to expand again, but I doubt it happens anytime soon.

Going back to Texas - Alabama got enough of that fan base with their "We win by 50 if Colt doesn't get hurt" BS. Guy was in for 5 plays, had two passes for 5 and 4 yards, and a 0 yard rush. Trust me, we get enough of that "what if" crap already here on the SECr. We don't need fanbases that literally suck on its teat.

While they're getting facerolled by shitty teams?

There wouldn't be a single Texas fan to be found on tRant any given Saturday night.

In that regard, they'd be a perfect candidate...
