This is a big if,

But if Texas offers 10 million/year, who doesn't take that cheddar?

They have the money to do so too.

If I was a LSU fan I would be worried about the issues in Austin.
With Brown being on the hot seat and Les Miles growing tired of being second fiddle to Saban, Miles would listen to a Texas offer. Miles wants to be king again and the only way that will happen is if Saban retires or for Miles to take the Texas job.

UT will go after CNS. Sexton will make sure of that. I doubt he leaves the machine he has created in Alabama. However, CNS and sexton will pillage the wealth of the Great State.

10 years 100 million. The rec would match, but he could also live in Austin.

They came after him 2 years ago and he said no thanks. He isn't leaving Alabama for Texas. We can give him something that Texas never will...... 100% control. He literally does what he wants and gets what he wants. He doesn't even answer to the AD, just the university president.

This is stupid. Saban has to have more money than God at this point. He has made references to his legacy. And his best shot at a decent legacy is to keep winning at Alabama. Not bolting yet again, mercenary style, with what could only be described as a lateral move.

He would have success at Texas, but how many years does he have left, anyway? If he's at Alabama 5 years from now, I'll be shocked. Hardly enough time to make a Texas move worth it, even if he considered it.

There is a lot of pressure on Texas admin to at least speak with Saban. This will happen and the checkbook will be wide open for sure.

They won't pursue him unless he indicates he would like to talk. Shorthorn will not risk the embarrassment of being publicly rejected by Saban.

Wouldn't it be hilarious is Saban left for Texas and Cam Cameron took the Alabama job?

Either way it's bad for Alabama. They will have to pay Saban more to keep him. Which will mean much less money for the players. If that prodigious money funnel dries up, things are gonna get messy.

Saban is not leaving Alabama, dude. He wants full control and Bama is happy to give it to him. UT will not let him have that.

As someone who lives in Austin not far from campus and is friends with mostly Longhorns, y'all are underestimating one aspect and overestimating another.

Y'all are underestimating the detraction of the LHN. Even media whore extraordinaire Mack Brown has complained sbout it multiple times. It is a big waste of time for him and he finds it intrusive. He's complained about both its burdensome obligations and the fact that it broadcasts camp and practices to all of their opposition. If you don't think that'd bother Saban GREATLY, you don't know a thing about Saban. It's also non-negotiable. The coach of UT, whoever it is, is contractually obligated to provide that access and to do shows.

Y'all are overestimating how much he likes Tuscaloosa and how nice Tuscaloosa is in comparison to Austin. I've been to both places. If you have money, which he would, Austin offers a lifestyle that's light years better. He could rock a mansion on a cliff above Lake Austin with simultaneous views of the lake, the downtown skyline, and the hill country and only be 5 minutes from downtown, with all the culinary, entertainment, and cultural options it has that Tuscaloosa just does not.

And Austin > LA. The guy saying the opposite must have never been to LA. The area where USC is located blows, as does all of LA proper. Now San Diego, that's a diffetent story, I'd take San Diego over Austin in a heartbeat and some of the other beach towns as well, but LA itself is a dusty, sprawling, depressing shithole.

Why would Saban want to start over when he has already built his dynasty at the best CFB program ever ?

He stays and he gets mentioned with the Bear , he goes to Texas and he gets mentioned with Darryl Royal....

If I were LSU I would be worried about losing Les Miles to Texas.

Saban made LSU a stepping stone to build the greatest college football programs in history. It will be decades before the hurt wears off.

I was skeptical that UT would make a serious run at Saban. I figured they'd make a safer move, but thinks have gotten so bad so fast over there that I've changed my mind. Will they go after him? I don't know, but I think the chances are a lot better now than they were.

truth is, saban is in love with the challenge and accomplishment. He'd leave loving his time at Bama and relish his time there, but if he isn't setting goals, hes dying.

If saban went to Texas he would pretty much decimate the recruiting trail. It would really suck for A&M and he would probably get more recruits from Louisiana and start sniping recruits from His Bama connections as well

Was this in the prophecy?

I don't think he is going anywhere but I will say this. If he ever is going to take another job it will be this year. He has McCarron graduating and will have to start rebuilding the offense next year around a new QB. I know Bama will just re-load but if he doesn't leave this year he's retiring a Gump.

Congrats Rockford.

This is one epic thread of Bama paranoia!

Bottom line is he could win at UT in two years.

If Bama was so smart why didnt they hire him from MichSt like LSU did?
