This list is a lie. TiM told me multiple times that Aubun is far superior to UA in every way possible academically.

Looks like Perry is really doing damage to Texas schools across the board.
Rice is down 1 spot (18)
Texas is down 8 spots (52)
SMU is down 4 spots (60)
A&M is down 4 spots (69)
Baylor is up 2 spots (75)
TCU is up 15 spots (82)
Texas Tech is up 3 spots (161)
Among public schools, the only one to gain any ground was Texas Tech.
Not sure how TCU rose so sharply.
I know why A&M dropped...US News does not look favorably on a drastic increase in number of students.

You do realize this is not strictly an academic ranking.

Wait, I'm not reading this whole thread to discern levels of sarcasm and sincerity, but I hope to god none of you dumb frickers is actually taking these rankings seriously. No one who matters or knows anything about higher education gives these rankings any credence whatsoever.
U.S. News has zero credibility when they're actually covering the news, the thing they are ostensibly good at. As someone for whom a big part of his job revolves around finding creative ways to meaningfully rank things, I can tell you they have even less credibility when it comes to list making.

I've always wondered why Missouri isn't higher because of their AAU status.

Glad to see my alma mater finally getting some academic recognition. Bama has been way underrated academically for some time now. Also glad to see Auburn representing, great for the state of Alabama to have such top notch institutions in the state.

Wow, I guess I've never realized how retarded Mississippi schools are. Especially Ole Miss. Aren't they supposed to be the preppy, well-off MS kids?

I think these rankings suck tremendously.
SMU over TAMU and Baylor? From a Texas perspective I don't get that at all.
And neither Baylor nor SMU can compete with TAMU in graduate programs in science and engineering.

Everyone knows Vandy doesn't really count in this department, so we're technically #1.
