Honestly I do find it interesting the way that Landon Collins and apparently Cam Rob's recruitment have went. Not in that they are the same due to the manner they will commit but that they both spurned their moms. Most recruiting analysts say the key to getting a recruit is getting the decision maker on your side and that person typically is the mom. In both cases, LSU had both mothers in their corner. Just an odd trend.

Where was it written that his MOM preferred LSU ? I missed that story. And per her Facebook it didn't appear like she was pro-LSU

It's really pretty simple If LSU had won 3 out of 4 championships instead of Bama, would you be here arguing that Bama was equal to LSU? I doubt it.

I admitted Bama's on the field results have been much better recently, but if they were really that much better as a program then we're not even talking about crob, or any of the big time 2014 targets. Bama vs LSU (or LSU vs UF) has decided the winner of the best division in football for years. That makes LSU an elite program on par with Bama, and anyone who actually follows recruiting knows that's true.

Most of the insiders say that the mom wants him closer to home while the uncles want him at Bama.

Per Google Maps, Tuscaloosa is 4 hours 22 minutes from West Monroe. Baton Rouge is 3 hours 20 minutes from West Monroe. I'm sure mom is supportive of his decision and not swaying him one way or the other over an extra hour.

It's not the distance. Mom definitely likes LSU and has been a big help to our efforts, but she seems to be supportive either way.

In distance...not that far apart

It's still Alabama

I just hope we make him regret the decision with the rest of our studs coming in 2014 & 15

Holy smokes. Boys he hasn't even picked a school yet. I am disappointed in all you LSU fans seemingly conceding CRob. Do you have no faith?

I wonder how these Gumps would feel if Saban were to take the job at Tenn. and then proceed to use all of the connections he established at Bama to steer recruits to the Vols? I'm going to go out on a limb and say they would be a tad upset. So frick them for questioning LSU fans being pissed about it.

If he pushes the announcement I'll have some hope, but I think the writing is on the wall. On the other hand, I doubt either program just stops recruiting him and I won't believe it's over until he enrolls in January.

I agree. This is a ten round title fight and I believe we are about to enter the 7th round.

My sentiments exactly.

Programs aren't made by one game each year. It seems to me that LSU fans think they are on par with Alabama because they match up with Alabama and that is always a great football game. But then LSU turns around and loses to Clemson. Or they lose five games in 2008 when Alabama started this run. Or they lose to Ole Miss twice in a row. What Alabama has built over the last five seasons is far and above what anybody else has done over their 13, or 14 or 15, game seasons. Just because Alabama-LSU is a bloodbath battle every year doesn't mean the programs are "on equal ground" based on that one game a year.

Since 2010:

LSU is 34-6 and 20-4 in the SEC with one SEC title.

Alabama is 35-5 and 19-5 in the SEC with one SEC title and two national titles.

During that time period the teams are 2-2 head to head.

Alabama has been better. I do not dispute that. But, to say that they are head and shoulders better than LSU is just not true.

But, whatever. You guys have nothing else to brag about so you live vicariously through your football team. Have at it.

No one questions LSU fans being pissed about it. We question the constant flow of excuses about it.

"X player was bought"
"He only went b/c his handlers pushed him there"
"Saban got his GF a scholly & job so he followed her"
"Rec got his parents a job, house, money, whatever"

Why can't you just admit that sometimes a kid wants to leave the state? Sometimes he wants to play somewhere else. Perhaps he looks at championships, players at his position in the NFL from said schools, campus, how he feels about the other players on the team, etc. and determines HE would rather go somewhere other than LSU for his own reasons.

We all understand why you are mad, we just don't understand why there always has to be some scandalous reason why a kid didn't choose LSU.

Is "start caring about college baseball" the right answer?
