Why is the Manziel story so much bigger than the Vandy rape story, where someone was genuinely harmed and will probably never recover from what was done to her?

Because Manziel won the Heisman...

Same reason that anything having to do with a game is reported more than anytime a soldier is killed in Afghanistan.
In the rape case, it's pretty clear what happened. It's pretty clear it's a crime. There's no national debate to be had. The criminals get their day in court, justice will prevail.
While smaller potatoes, the JFF situation set the stage for a great national debate ranging from the degree of self-control a 20 year old should possess to rights over a college student-athlete's likeness and ability to earn money to questioning the very nature of the NCAA itself.

I think that is a fair question. No one is really talking about the Vandy case. Maybe it's because there isn't a lot of info out yet? Idk. But everything is flooded with JFF. Makes me want to gag.

because justice will be served ultimately in the Vandy with some sense of closure...
and in Manziels case cheating will be rewarded and still the NCAA is both dickholes and impotent so its a more interesting story moving forward because it lacks closure on the cheating/ncaa sucks ballz side.

Maybe because it's Vandy. If it was a national brand football program they would probably be all over it.
Posted on 8/11/13 at 7:52 pm to Quicksilver
because manziel is the biggest individual icon in college sports

Rapes happen every day. Getting to bury a heisman trophy winner doesn't come along too often.

If you think that is really an interesting question then you probably don't think very deeply about most things.

Vandy is a private university and never released any information until most of the attention that was on it blew over.

They were all over Duke lacrosse.

This is precisely what I was going to reference when someone inevitably brought it up.

Because no one is jealous of some Vanderbilt player.

4 players videotaped themselves pissing on a passed out girl and allegedly inserting water bottles into creative places.

Because no one gives a shite about Vandy football and no one wants a repeat of what happened at Duke

If he honestly does not know the answer to this, then he;s not very bright.
Be upset about it, push the Vandy story more if you have the chance, but don't feign ignorance...
