One day years from now Manziel will regret the choices he made while at Texas A&M.

If he had just kept his mouth shut and prepared for this season and jumped into the draft in 2014 he could have come back to College Station for the next 50+ years and been treated like a god… He could have walked by a galloping statue of #2 for the rest of his life.

For some reason, that just wasn’t in his cards. Instead he chose to make an arse of himself on a weekly basis, post idiotic comments on twitter, provide ample photo ops of poor decisions, criticize the town and the University, give his idiotic parents a platform to criticize him as well as the University, and just kept feeding the media beast with egotistical negative shite.

As it turns out, waaaaaaay before everyone in college football thought he was complete arse, he might have been taking cash for autographs only a few weeks after receiving the most coveted trophy in college sports and joining a very elite fraternity of Heisman Trophy winners. Not sure I ever remember anyone going from college penthouse to outhouse faster than Johnny Manziel.

What about the collateral damage? What about the fans? One of the coolest things about college football or any sport is the high expectations and excitement leading up to the first game of the season. How good do you feel right now? After the Cotton Bowl most Ags couldn’t wait until next season. As the months passed with Manziel most of us were thinking “the season can’t get here quick enough” because this guy is selfish social disaster. Now… so much uncertainty and dreading of the NCAA investigation. Expectations and excitement have been thoroughly crushed and overtaken by the latest fiasco. How would you feel if you were Jake Mathews??? He came back in part to play with his younger brother but also came back because “he wanted to be part of something special at A&M next season”. While Jake was trying to figure out if he was staying at A&M or going to the NFL, Manziel was in a hotel room signing 300 autographs ... interesting.

Does anyone really think he is innocent? He might be. His biggest problem is he has absolutely no goodwill in the bank with anyone including Aggie fans. Just about every single Ag I speak with aren’t sure if Manziel took cash but no one would be at all surprised if he did. It’s all about expectation now. Everyone expects the worst from him. INCLUDING his freaking family.

No matter what happens, he can’t take away the memories I have from last year and he can’t take away the memories I will have once his playing days in College Station are over… whenever that happens. Texas A&M will roll on with him or without him. Too bad he has thrown so much away but won’t realize it until it is years too late.

Man, I think you need to settle down a little bit. No one is trying to rob you of your memories, everything is going to be ok.

A&M will be just fine. No one is panicking. My point was Manziel will ultimately be the one that pays the price for everything that has gone on.

A&M much much bigger for me than Manziel. Not worried about him at all.

Think you missed the entire point of what I was getting at.

I didn't read it all. That is probably the issue here.

Apologies

A&M will always be bigger than one player or even coach, regardless of what happens here. It's unfortunate but I trust in Sumlin to make the best of this situation. I still believe Sumlin, Kyle Allen, RSJ, Justin Manning, Isiah Golden and co. will be contending for SEC and national titles in the next 3 years

The only folks that think Johnny is bigger than A&M and that all of our fortunes ride with him are uninformed idiots from other schools.

It'll be ok though and Johnny isn't nearly as big of an idiot as many players we have had in the past. He's just got a much bigger microscope than any player we have ever had. A lot of that is self inflicted of course but still his actions have been severely overblown. Dude seems to have more paparazzi than Lebron and Tiger combined.

No one really believes he's bigger, it's just trolls.

He won't even go higher in the draft than our last QB.

I swear human beings have become prisoners of the moment. I'm more embarrassed by that novel of an OP, than I am of anything JFF has done this season.

We recruited "Brett Favre, on a motorcycle" and you didn't expect him to be a free spirit? His and his family's wild side was well documented before he ever signed his LOI.

He's a football player and college kid, you don't have to let him baby sit your kids. He's not dating your daughter.

I'm pretty sure it's all the fricktards treating him like a god that started this.

We are still winning at least 10 or 11 counting our bowl game if JFF has to sit.

The only games that we wouldn't be favored to win would be Bama and LSU. Everything else is 100% winnable and I would expect us to be favored regardless of playing JFF or not.

I had not thought about this. While if playing with his brother was the overwhelming factor of coming back he's probably ok with whoever happens to be the qb, but if a large part of his wanting to come back was also to be a part of something special THIS season, then I would want to beat the shite out of manziel, if it's true and he's suspended.

Sadly, my post started with:

quote:

One day years from now Manziel will regret the choices he made while at Texas A&M.

and ended with:

quote:

Texas A&M will roll on with him or without him. Too bad he has thrown so much away but won’t realize it until it is years too late
.

Seems pretty clear that the point I made was that Manziel will someday regret the last 8 months and the choices he made and the dismantling of the legacy he could have had as a fellow Aggie.

I guess too many TexAgs posters have moved into TD and can't follow a post that has more than 2 sentences and no smiley face.

I read about half of it. The tone of it made me think you're super upset, regardless of what your first and last line said.

I kind of doubt that.

This team is going to have several shootouts next year from the lack of defensive depth.

Ole Miss, Vandy, Auburn, Miss St, Arky, and Mizzou would all have decent shots to win if he has to sit. Aside from maybe Ole Miss, those are all auto wins with Manziel. Hell, depending on the teams emotional status following Bama, SMU might even have a shot.
