I really don't think he liked the NFL. He did do well actually even though most don't recognize how he turned Miami around in his first year. Too many people to answer to in the NFL. He wants complete control of the organization, not just X and O's.

Crazy, from sitting on his couch watching the team he built up falling apart under Kirby Smart.

Saban will never leave Bama for another college job.

I could definitely see him going back to the NFL. A guy like him, its gotta irk him that he was a failure at his first attempt at NFL HC.

Saban is 61. At this point, his next move is retirement. My guess is he'll coach between 4-6 more seasons at Bama and then bow out.

Which would lead to another question...why? I mean, Paterno, Bowden,Schnellenberger, and Schembechler, (Among others) have or are coaching well into their 70s....so why do you think Saban will hang it up in his mid 60s? Curious....

So you think he won't be like Spurrier coach a few more years? Spurrier is still coaching at 68.

Saban is more intense than Spurrier these days. I think SOS has mellowed out over the last few years, and that will allow him to keep coaching for as long as he wants.

It doesn't seem like Saban has lost the intensity that both have been known for. I think he'll burn out much younger than Spurrier. I'm guessing he retires at UA, and it will probably be in the next four years or so.

I could see him taking another job and trying to win a championship at a third school, simply for the challenge, but it would have to be a ready made situation. I don't think he wants to rebuild another program. He would want to step into a place with an established recruiting draw and talent already on the roster.

Texas, LSU, or the NFL.

He will probably coach at Bama though for 5 more years and then go hang out on the lake.

Doubt he ever leaves bama.

Some NFL teams would take a chance on him, but certainly not all. And he would probably be a pretty average NFL coach and get fired after a while if it were a good team that decided to roll the dice.

If he does this then history dictates that he come to Carolina and coach.

Saban has an ego the size of my... Um... Well... He has an ego the size of Tim Duncan... Yeah, that's better... You know it has to bother him that he was a failure in the NFL. I think if Dallas, New York (Giants,) or New England come calling, he would leave Bama in a heartbeat.

Do you think he would suffer bodily injuries.

He did not turn Miami around.

In 2003, the Fins were 10-4 and in the playoffs, primarily due to Ricky Williams being the best RB in the NFL and a good defense.

In 2004 the Fins were expected to be in the hunt for the AFC championship, but Ricky Williams got the drug suspension right before the season started which fricked the Fins big time. They started 0-6 as they had the worst running game in the league. They finished 4-6 the remainder of the season.

Saban arrived in 2005 and started 3-7 and the Fins were pretty much done halfway through the season. They won the 6 last games but against terrible teams, non of which were playoff teams, (except the Pats second string on a meaningless last game of the season for the Pats). Teams the Fins beat in 2005 to end the year:

4-12 Raiders
5-11 Bills
9-7 Chargers
4-12 Jets
4-12 Titans

In 2006, the Fins were expected to make the playoffs and Saban shite the bed. Started 1-6 and were pitiful. Ended 6-10 by winning a few meaningless games late.

Then when he left, his legacy was just how terribly he destroyed a decent roster in only two years. I mean he decimated it. Poor trades and draft picks as well as a much older roster than he started with. Not to mention some players came out and said after he left they would have retired rather than play another season under him.

The NFL is not gonna be knocking on Saban's door. He might could get a team to give him another shot, but that is about it.

First, I love how an Auburn fan like yourself knows what goes on in the mind of the Alabama football coach. I'm sure it keeps you up at night.

Two, people have been saying that shite for years, and year after year Saban turns down NFL teams.

Three, I'm not married.

Was he really a failure though? He took a 4-12 Miami team and went 9-7 his first year. Injuries and his failure to connect on Drew Brees cost him in 2006. The year after he left the Dolphins went 1-15.
