Nice feature on Forbes interviewing Commissioner Slive and outlining some of conflict management strategies he used to help make the conference come together.

I also don't think people put in perspective how brilliant the Texas A&M move was. The metro areas in the Lone Star State(excluding El Paso/Lubbock/Midland/Odessa) have about 3 million more people than the entire population of the rest of the SEC West combined.

The A&M move was a fricking coup for the SEC. Master stroke by Slive, and he knows it.

Certainly was. Not only did he bring in bunches of new TVs, he brought them into one of the fastest growing regions in the country.

Looking back at it, and the way Slive played the rest of the conferences for fools, it's just crazy how deftly he maneuvered the SEC into position to strike while the iron was hot. I mean, shite, the Big 12 is still trying to convince themselves that TCU and WVU are "upgrades."

The real coup was Slive's ability to steal Killz from the Big 12.

Killz makes the SEC stronger. Fact.

The SEC really just had to bide its time. Selling the SEC isn't difficult, but waiting for the right time to grab the two new schools was well done.

Then it's just a matter of watching the others panic.

And I suspect this may be the theme again to get to 16. Just biding our time.

I think that's almost a given.

It's not about getting 16, it's about getting the right 16. Let the other conferences start showing their hands and then act. It's nice to have the higher ground.
