I'm talking about the ones who get pissed just by seeing a Bama post

Ross what was the rant like back before all the flame wars? When opposing fans could have objective discussion. I realize it wasn't flame free, but I have seen you and others from the earlier years talk of how fun it used to be on the rant. You had even jumped on me early on when I thought I had to flame every bama fan and some being good people.

There was a lot more humor.

ACL is still one of my favorite posters ever and he's a Bama fan.

Well I remember when I came on in early Oct 2010 and it was more jovial and good humored ribbing. Then ATPB hit the board and it hasn't been the same since.

I agree with this. I come here to get away from the rant. No need to mess up a good thing.

You missed my point. My point was even if outsiders make quality posts it will rustle some jimmies of our fans and the problem will be the Aubie posters that go off. Don't forget our fan base is full of paranoia and little brother mentality. That mindset will take harmless outsider posts the wrong way and create headaches that I personally don't want to see or have to deal with.

I understood your point. I was saying we will choose posters who cause the least friction. I know we have some hair-trigger fans that post here, but they go off on fellow Auburn fans so it's to be expected that they will go off on whoever we add.

I agree that adding posters will cause some inevitable volatile situations that we will have to endure, but how is that any different than a typical TTs melt? (sorry TTs, I've been using you as examples fairly often. I think of you as the Hershel Walker of our fanbase though )

It won't turn into the mini rant.

I have access to the Ole Miss board and I have no desire to go in and flame or troll them. I just ask questions, and comment on their posts or gifs, videos, etc. They have asked me some questions and I have provided some info and it is a good discussion.

But look I am not going to try and change any minds here, either you are good with it or not. I am done commenting and will let the vote and Ross decide. I will accept either way.

This is what some of yall don't understand. The Rant is how it is because of the constant flaming. If a couple poster are let in who don't flame and will be moderated, it won't be like the rant

The combustability off fans going off on there own does not compare to the combustability when an outsider element is added. I love my fellow Aubuies but I do not trust our fanbase to handle it well.

When I joined, there was only the Tiger Rant. I lurked for a few months before joining. An LSU alum and co-worker told me about the site.

The month I joined appears to have been when this site really took off. Bama fans invaded in droves and began flaming the Tiger Rant like crazy and it was ugly. LSU fans were super pissed about Saban going to bama (like 500x todays level of pissed, maybe 1000x). shite got ugly on the Tiger Rant between LSU and Bama fans. Aubies like myself were attacked from both sides as LSU fans were still insanely furious about 2006. To me, the trash talking then was less in jest and more serious. The BT4LSU and cajunbama throw down was a good example of people gettting pissed for real and making plans to fight IRL. The moderation of the board was more lax too. A lot more was allowed back then. Also a whole lot of THIS IS AN LSU SITE, GET THE frick OUT!!! It wasn't like today where so many fans of all schools post. It was LSU, Bama, and a few Aubies for the most part.

Then after LSU beat Bama and Saban in Oct '07, things sorta simmered down and bama fans lost their early season swagger and became tolerable and actually pretty meek as they stumbled down the stretch. The ULM debacle, MSU loss and AU win #6 established a pretty happy time here where bama fans were bashed mercilessly and didn't fight back very hard.

I would say late 2007 and 2008 were good here. Probably about the most respectful period I remember. Bama fans were not too bad during the 2008 season and LSU was not great and AU sucked, so it was pretty civil. But the site was really taking off and LSU fans bitched on the Tiger Rant about all the gumps and the slowly growing number of Aubies, so the SECr was created which actually was pretty good and somewhat civil and attracted more fans from other teams as well.

Until....

ATPB

After that it all went to shite.

It's pretty apparent some won't, but I just get the feeling adding Bama posters will eventually happen which is why I'm not completely opposed to the idea. I rather us focus on who we let in and how we can hold them accountable for their posts on our board.

The good thing is if one of the recently added posters flames, he can be easily removed...problem solved. If we add the stipulation of "if you flame, you and your fanbase lose their access" then I think we won't have any problems with the content of their posts.

You and I think alike on this issue. Our rivalry is unhealthy on so many levels and much more so than any other in the country it seems.

This +1000. The guys that joined about the same time, me Ross and TiMAU83, had a great time on the old rant fricking with just about everyone. And it did seem there was a better sense that it was all in fun. ATPB ruined the rant for me. Too many douche nozzles invaded the site and it went full retard and has not recovered. The good posters that have come in since 2010 get drowned out by the flamers.
