This matters little. We've had Elite Eleven guys not pan out and those that didn't make this cut do wonderful. Chryst and Cornwell didn't make it. What does that tell you?

It's a competition that really helps the less celebrated QB's stock rise should they do well. It really doesn't effect the top signal callers in the Nation either way imo. As good as White did I would take Watson and Harris first. However, were they to go elsewhere I am impressed with what I saw from White in both leadership and ability.

Being in or out of the Elite 11 has shown zero impact on college performance. It's an overrated event.

This is true, but many on the SECr don't want to believe this.

I agree, like I said it only helps the underrated players get more exposure and better offers. It doesn't parlay into great success or failure in college.

It's stuff like this that's all to really talk about this offseason.

This was the Elite 11 in 2009

Blake Bell
Joe Boisture
Rob Bolden
Tyler Bray
Barry Brunetti
Devin Gardner
Jake Heaps
Austin Hinder
Nick Montana
Jesse Scroggins
Phillip Sims
Chandler Whitmer

Jake Heaps was MVP, he's terrible in college. The runners up for MVP in order were...

Tyler Bray - good
Chandler Whitmer - who?
Nick Montana - sucks
Rob Bolden - sucks

Cornwell lacked consistancy. Every comment about it was that his best was better than everyone else's best, just struggled to repeat every time, which is not surprising since he has only had one year, competing against guys with 3. He still has another year of playing hs, then probably a redshirt to wotk out any kinks. When it comes down to it, he is still 6'5 240 with quick feet, good running abilty, a huge natural arm (which will only get better with coaching). And unlike lots of other guys he has shown both the abilty and desire to learn and take coaching. Elite 11 is really about being the most consistent high school qb, doesn't have much to do with college potential. Cornwell has the highest ceiling of anybody in the country at the position and will thrive under the kind of coaching he will get at bama.

I missed the part in the Elite 11 where the QB's are facing pressure and having to throw over an OL. Dang, I'm sure it is an accurate representation of how good a QB is going to be. Just look at previous years. Dang, maybe we can get a good QB next year.

Well the entire 2009 QB class was easily one of the worst in recent memory.

He has a lot of upside IMO, but a big arm with meh footwork will only get you so far. It is pretty safe to say the kid is overrated right now.

Too bad there is not real game footage to make an accurate evaluation

I have seen footage of him. I think I accurately described his game to this point.

He won't see that in his division on OK either. DL are 5-8/210.
