It's not a troll thread. I would put Florida ahead of LSU. I think there has been good discussion.

Seems early to say last year, but whatever. As far as ranking the programs, I didn't think it was only referring to this season.

Some of us are still in season in the 12-13 athletic calendar.
But seriously, I mean, baseball and track are stil going on for the 12-13 year. The NCAA championship from a month ago is still 'this year' to me.

Well yeah I guess I agree about Louisville
I always thought baseball started the new season though. My fault

You are just being defensive. I would agree with Bama up at number 3. I do agree that football carries extra weight in the analysis.

quote:As an SEC school, LSU was a BCS school. The BCS was agreed upon by most conferences, including the SEC, to play the top 2 schools for a national championship. You got paid money divided by all the SEC schools, some of the money from the BCS games. The BCS championship game determined the champion. LSU lost to Alabama in the 2011 championship game.
What are these "rules" to which you refer?

The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) is a five-game showcase of college football. It is designed to ensure that the two top-rated teams in the country meet in the national championship game, and to create exciting and competitive matchups among eight other highly regarded teams in four other bowl games.
It has been undeniably successful in achieving those goals. Thanks to the BCS, the top two teams have played each other 15 times in 15 years by BCS measurements and 12 times in the last 15 according to the AP poll -- including the last nine years in a row. Additionally, it has provided more access to the major bowls for all eleven conferences, more television exposure, and more postseason revenue than ever before.

Florida and Ole Miss were the only two schools in the league to play in a bowl game and also make it to the NCAA basketball and NCAA baseball tournaments during the 2012-13 athletic year.

The Rebels were the only SEC school to win a bowl game, NCAA tournament basketball game and NCAA tournament baseball game this past year.

Nationally, Florida was one of only four schools during the 2012-13 athletic year to play in a BCS bowl game and also play in both the NCAA basketball and NCAA baseball tournaments. The other three were Kansas State, Louisville and Oregon.

On the flip side, Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee were the only three schools in the SEC this past year to be shut out of all three -- a bowl game, the NCAA basketball tournament and NCAA baseball tournament.

In fact, Tennessee hasn’t won a bowl game, NCAA men’s tournament basketball game or NCAA tournament baseball game since the 2009-10 athletic year. The Vols made it to the Elite Eight that year in hoops.

Rank the SEC programs overall for the main 3 sports

More games argument has no merit,
When you are talking about TOTAL season attendance it most certainly has merit.
So you're saying that the Miami Marlins...on track to be perhaps the worst team in MLB history...are more popular than the Miami Dolphins. After all, they've already out-drawn the Dolphins by almost 100,000, and we aren't even to the all star break yet. Because after all, we're talking about total season attendance, right?

There's only 2 main sports.
There's only one main sport. Basketball, at #2, is far closer to baseball at #3 than it is to football at #1.
