Should non-SEC fans REALLY rest their hope in Ohio State?

Most of the AP is proclaiming Ohio State as the de facto challenger for the SEC. I am not seeing it. Braxton Miller has terrible delivery and they have to overcome serious losses in their defensive front seven. Is Urban getting too much credit here? As SEC fans, do you think they are the greatest challenger in the field for 2013?

The best place to ask non-SEC fans a question is the SEC rant

Ohio fans have little to celebrate anyway.
The Indians suck
The Blue Jackets suck
The Cavaliers REALLY suck
The Reds suck
The Bengals suck
The Browns are horrific
and the Big Ten, as a whole is a joke.

I am asking SEC fans if they really think tOSU is the best out of the non-sec field to challenge.

In reality, the best SEC-haters can hope for is a title game with no SEC schools.
No SEC school has lost a championship game to a non-SEC school in the BCS era.

TOSU is getting the pass to the title game because of their incredibly "favorable" schedule, which has them playing no one in the top twenty, no tough road games, and no conference championship game. Any other non-SEC team set up as good as the Buckeyes? Anyone? Anyone?

At some point, that will end. And as a SEC hater, I don't want the streak to end unless the SEC is involved.

Pretty sure the only conference without a title game is the Bevo10.
B1G title game is at Lucas Oil.

I get that their schedule looks easy right now. However, they lost ALL starters on the dline. I don't care how blue chip Spence and Washington are, they are young.

I think Ohio State is the only non SEC option.

I am but that is because when I am a Ohio State fan. Go Bucks! The only time I will not support Ohio State is if they play Tennessee and in that case OSU can go to hell.

I have to laugh at the constant holding-up of OSUe as the "Great White Hope" of college football.
They were completely written off after Florida pounded the shite out of them in the BCS MNC game, but now Urbie is there so they are once again The Great White Hope ... oh, until someone from the SEC pounds the shite outta them again.
I just hope it's the Gamecocks this year because I'm tired of hearing from OSUe fans about how bad John Cooper was his last year, and about how bad Tressel was his first year. I want to make them make excuses for how bad Urbie was his second year.

Ohio went 9-4 in the MAC last year. While not great it was at least a 9 win season and they beat Penn State @ Happy Valley.

The only bigger fraud team than Notre Dame last year was Ohio State.

I like Oregon's chances over OSU, if the new coach pans out. But like at least one other here, I think OSU/Oregon/Anybody's best chance is if the SEC gets left out.

I agree. Closest thing to a top tier SEC program outside the SEC.
Playing a weak schedule however will cost them dearly in that game.
Oregon is probably second, but there is going to have to be hope that they come out hitting on all cylinders a la A&M last year or the SEC team comes out flat and causes turnovers. Certainly possible.
Teams that non-SEC fans should be hoping get their shite together = FSU or Clemson. Both have athletes that every SEC program coveted - top notch athletes. I just don't think they have the leadership to get over their one or two inexcusable performances a year.
So I'd rank them:
tOSU
Oregon
Clemson
FSU
?Stanford?
- maybe some Big-12 team out of no where with a crazy offense such as Oklahoma State a couple years ago?
Not much to choose from outside of that.
