The knock on short QBs is they can't see over their lineman and they have too many tipped passes at the line.
Tipped pass to end SEC Title game

This is why Aaron Murray is not in Mel Kiper's top 10 QB's for the 2014 NFL Draft. You have to be an exceptional talent to be a short NFL QB and Aaron Murray is not.

I feel that when you are a short quarter back, you need to get used to it. I believe that it was because lots of factors that added up to a chipped pass. Good thread with good reasoning. Arrow up

what does that have to do with the OP? Many great CFB players are not usually in the NFL..Danny W. and Gino T. come to mind.

I think if he wins the SEC this year he will get a shot in the NFL somewhere being over drafted and i wish him the best. If he doesnt he will be a 4th or 5th round pick.

IDK but I don't think the pass would've been completed anyway if it hadn't been tipped. Although UGA would've gotten another play. I do think that Murray is a good QB. His height isn't ideal but I could see him having a decent NFL career.

It is/was one factor. But if you look back at the final play, it was poorly conceived and had little chance of success regardless. Both receivers on that side were well covered and none of them were in the endzone. However, Gurley could have been wide-open in the middle of the endzone if he had chip blocked and moved to the middle of the field which was the endzone. We should have quickly thrown the ball in the dirt to give time to come up with a planned play that had better chance of success.

Absolutely it did. How many teams have won a BCS title with a passing QB under 6'?

Well when you start for 4 seasons in a fairly pass heavy offense in a league that historically runs the ball and plays defense and clock control, its not that hard to do.

Starting 4 seasons at a Big 6 school and winning zero SEC titles does not make you all that great.

I can't agree with this more.

Just curious but who was the last "Great" 3+ year starter at a Big 6 that didn't win one.

If they don't win this year then it will always be a thing people hold over Murray. Kinda like how Peyton never beat UF while he was at Tennessee

The irony is that his height would have benefited him if they had spiked the ball.

If the pass is not tipped ,Milner#28 intercepts. They knew what play was coming. Look at how he had his man pushed to the boundary .

So you're saying he's a pick-throwing choke artist because he's short? Interesting. I thought it was because he's a mental case.

UGA lost that game because we gave up 350 rushing yards, not because Aaron Murray is only 6' tall.

UGA didn't lose the game because the pass was tipped.

UGA lost the game because the tipped pass was caught.

Big difference.

The playcall was fine. It's a high backshoulder throw. The receiver can be draped. So long as he has his legs under him, he has leverage going up for the ball (the defender doesn't because he's facing the boundary).

Tavarres looks to have had his man on a fade on the other side. But it's one of those pre-snap reads. The only thing wrong with the play was the penetration to the QB by Mosley and a great play on the ball to tip it (Mosley didn't tip the ball because of Murray's height. He tipped it because of how close he was able to get to the QB).
