Both would be a better choice than Manning, thanks for helping me making my point. Several SEC QB's > Peyton Manning. He doesn't deserve to be on any SEC dream team except a UT only one, based on his career.
Yes...I was thinking it was a team sport and that that QBs weren't able to guarantee wins. While Bama had a fine defense in '92...it was Barker's blistering 124 yards per game that led them to an undefeated season (and subsequent National Championship). Obviously, this is far superior to anything that Wuerffel ever did. As a matter of fact, that would put Wuerffel behind Tee Martin, Cam Newton, Greg McElroy, Jason Campbell, Stan White. If Wuerffel was really any good, then why didn't he have any undefeated seasons?

How many times did Tony Robinson go to the locker room after a defeat?
The fact you are suggesting Robinson played on a losing team shows just how damned ignorant you are of SEC history.

Danny Wuerffel for starters. Never lost to Manning, 4 SEC championships, played in 2 National Championships.
Would you say that AJ McCarron is better than both Peyton and Wuerffel? He played in and won 2 National Championships, has a ring from being on the team for a third, and has the potential to play in another this year. IMO Peyton is the best qb to play in the SEC in my lifetime. Put Peyton on those 90's Spurrier teams, and he'd probably have won 2-3 national championships, put Wuerffel on Peyton's UT teams and I'm not sure he wins a national title.
Actually, I'm not sure any qb on UF could have beaten that Nebraska team in '95, that team was unreal.

Here's who I would assemble together.
QB Cam Newton
RB Bo Jackson
RB Herschel Walker
WR Julio Jones
WR Josh Reed
TE Ozzie Newsome
OL 2012 Alabama offensive line
DE John Henderson
DE David Pollack
DT Glen Dorsey
LB Woodrow Lowe
LB Cornelius Bennett
LB Derrick Thomas
LB Patrick Willis
CB Honey Badger
CB Patrick Peterson
S Eric Berry
S Sean Jones
K Leigh Tiffin
P Brad Wing
PR Javier Arenas
KR Brandon James
That's a helluva list.
The only two real problems I have with it is picking the entire 2012 Bama OL and...
Honey Badger?
Comic relief, right?

It isn't just that Danny won a bunch of games, he has the numbers to back it up and had a ton of records. His career accomplishments far exceed what Peyton did in college and it isn't like Peyton was playing on some bad teams.

Actually, I think he was implying he was visiting his dealer rather than going to the locker room.

That didn't start until after the Cornelius Bennett cheap shot ended his career.
Johnny Majors didn't play that game. He was strict. He kicked Reggie Cobb off the team 3-4 days before the Alabama game just for smoking pot.

Exactly...Danny is 5th in SEC history in career passing yards...only behind David Greene, Eric Zeier, Chris Leak and PAYTON MANNING.
In career completions Danny is #14 in SEC history...Manning is only 2nd.
In career completion percentage, Danny is in the top 20 (actually, he is #20)...while Manning is all the way down at #5.
Danny is ahead of Manning in career passing yards per attempt...a full 1.4 yards per attempt (so Danny is #3 while Peyton is #7).
Isn't there any category where Danny is far up the list above Peyton...wait, I found one. Career interceptions. Danny is tied for #11, while Manning is tied at #41 all time.

If McCarron gets another ring this year is he the starter for the SEC dream team?

Wuerffel against UT: 4-0
Manning against UF: 0-4

Joe Namath
Kenny Stabler
Bart Starr

With that screen name your opinion don't carry much weight.

Montana is known as the greatest NFL QB of all time because of his hardware. Why wouldn't AJ? He would have more than anyone ever.

AJ McCarron just drives the Corvette. However, guys like Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel, etc... are the Corvette.

Montana drove the Vette too, but his hardware makes him known as the best.

quote:No, he wasn't just a game manager for the San Francisco 49ers... He made the Pro Bowl 8 times and was 1st Team All-Pro 3 times. He was on great teams, but he didn't manage games, he made that offense click.

FWIW, I expect to see Nick Saban letting AJ McCarron take a step forward and have a lot of control of the offense this year. I expect to see a more "wide open" offense, more-so than we have so far while Nick Saban has been at Alabama. If he does, it might change people's mind about him being just a game manager (depending on how successful he is).

So your saying there's a chance... Thanks for a good nonbiased answer. I can live with that.
