Tide of enthusiasm
Thanks to Bama, FSU could feature more blitzing than previous years

Before Jones could open the door to the NFL, however, Jimbo Fisher and new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt offered their own sales pitch. They sat Jones down and flipped on the film of Pruitt's defense at Alabama, where Rolando McClain and Dont'a Hightower blossomed into first-round draft picks. It was red meat for a linebacker hungry to become a playmaker.

Jones wasn't the only member of Florida State's defense to get that sales pitch from Pruitt, and the film of Alabama's championship defense has been popular viewing material during the past few months.

In spite of him poaching DeMarcus Walker from us last recruiting cycle, I was wishing Pruitt the best at FSU. Not after this shite too though. I hope he falls flat on his face like Sal did last season.

Well, I don't really blame him for showing film of the defense he'll be running at FSU. Don't know if he was taking credit for Bama's D or if that was a liberty taken by the writer of the article.

Rolando McClain? Was he even here then? frick this dude though. With the shite he said the other day and now this. I have no respect for him.

Might've been a GA in '09 but I know he wasn't a coach

They are taking trying to be Bama to a pretty unreal level down there...

Its kind of like our farm system. If someone is doing well down there we can just call them up to the bigs.

New Florida State defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt spoke with the media as FSU opened spring practice Wednesday.
He didn't hold back.
While most coaches speak in clichés and general terms, Pruitt was quite open and honest at his press conference.
"One thing about us is, we don't cheat at Florida State," he said. "At some schools, they do a little more than 15 spring practices. We've done it the right way, so today was our first day we saw our guys out there. We go from there."
When asked to reflect on his previous stop at Alabama, Pruitt was also open. He had been coaching at Hoover High School in Alabama before Nick Saban hired him, but it took a while to move up. And even then, Pruitt expressed some frustration.
"I got passed up twice," Pruitt said. "Nick gave me an opportunity to join the staff, but there was a need there. He had been in the NFL, took the (Alabama) job on Jan. 2, he needed some help with high school recruiting in the state, had never really recruited the state. I'm a former player at Alabama, my dad's a high school coach, I was coaching at one of the better schools in the state, so I got an opportunity.
"While I was there, we had several coaches who left, and he didn't promote me for whatever reason. It's like I told him: It was his show. It's my job to prove that I'm the best guy out there for him. But he did give me an opportunity the third time, and I'm very appreciative for it."
Now Pruitt is as Florida State and excited to prove even more what he can do. His first reaction upon getting the job and looking at the roster?
"There are some good players entering the draft."
We know he is talking about us. No love for this dude at all!

I'm sure we "manage" the truth a bit at UA as well. Every team does it. shite, we had Sal telling everyone and their mothers that he made Peppers Peppers.

one of the more pathetic, inaccurate recruiting tactics i've ever heard of in my life here...............it's laughable to think Pruitt had anything to do with our LB's or even our corners, that is Smart and Saban there, not Pruitt by any stretch.

This. It amazes me how some of you just turn on people once they're gone.

It couldn't have anything to do with him insinuating that we run a dirty program.

Am I incorrect in remembering that he was a DBs coach?

I am actually okay with showing the LBs that got drafted - we would do the same if it was flipped, but this quote here is some bs.
