Who has Cal coached up? The guy takes HS all americans for a few months and change them like diapers for more HS all americans.

Their are multiple aspects to coaching and Cal is a great coach in that he has the ability to recognize and recruit elite talent and usually the ability to get them to play to their potential despite having so many elite athletes.

Others (Brad Stevens, Shaka Smart, Jim Valvano, etc.) are/were great in their abilities to get less talented players to equal more than the sum of their parts through skill development or schemes or strategy or inspiration, etc.

I don't think Cal should be demonized for winning in a manner that suits his coaching strengths.

So who is responsible for compiling a team full of uncoachable players? That assistant needs firing.

Calipari had UMASS in the final four. It's not because he signed a bunch of McDonald's All Americans. If Memphis hits some free throws or one of the players listened to Cal and fouled Kansas before Chalmers shoots the three, he has multiple national titles.

They guys is recruiting on another level now, but he has always been a great coach.
