OK, if you could somehow move Oxford to right there (the peninsula dot), it would be awesome.
Well here's my theory:
If Oxford, which in many ways it did, grew up around the University and has became what it is today from its relation to the school ... then in turn ... if the University would have been founded where you mentioned then the surrounding area/town would very similarly grow up as well. Essential you would get Oxford in that area of the state and that would be awesome IMO.

I agree with you. That area is beautiful and the surrounding area has a similar feel as Oxford, especially with Corinth finally bringing liquor in. We spend about 20 weekends every year at J.P. Coleman, gorgeous in the fall.

We have a place on the Tennessee side of the river before you cross the dam.
I love it there its a great place only thing that suck are some of the locals but that is kinda what I meant when I said the University might have bettered the area

The university would have definitely bettered the area! Some of those locals are scary!
Can you imagine what Panther Cove and the Waterfall would be like if it was there? We usually go to Dry Creek though.

I like Auburn right where it is... in Georgia.

I could definitely see it being beneficial for the southern portion of the state. For my family in Texarkana, Fayetteville is a 4+ hour drive up hwy. 71. LSU is actually only about 45 minutes further away than the U of A.

I didn't make it to Fayetteville when I went to Arkansas last year, but the surrounding areas were really nice. That university seems fine where it is.

it would have to be in Jackson.
Not that it's much of a difference other than being better, Madison would be a good local.

Lafayette probably. Way more culture than BR and a cooler town plus we would have actual room to expand.
New Orleans would be the absolute worst choice. I would have rather it stayed in Pineville.

Fayetteville was a little more than 7 hours from my hometown when I attended. I did not care. I can't imagine it being in any other part of the state, particularly Little Rock. I don't even like going to the games at War Memorial much. I've always loved Fayetteville, but living in Baton Rouge has given me even more of an appreciation for true college towns.

Don't get me wrong, I think Fayetteville is far nicer than Little Rock and if I were an Arkansas student/alumni I wouldn't want it anywhere else.

There isn't another place in Kentucky that I would have to move the University to.
