The bar was set so low it's hard for him not to improve.

One of the 24 win teams that was left out of the tournament had a losing record in conference play.

You know what I see?

A shite ton of losing/even conference records while still finishing in the top 4 in the West (yeah, yeah, 4 of 6, but still) as well as T1st-W with his only winning record (9-7 mind you).

To me, that means he's been fielding teams in the worst stretch of SEC basketball play (outside of UK and UF) ever imagined and he couldn't get it done, one time. Not one time. Not ONE, SINGLE, frickING, TIME.

And we were snubbed by the selection committee because of how we shite the bed late in the season, period, end of story. You don't get invited to a one and done tourney when you CONSISTENTLY collapse under bubble pressure.

The bottomline is that AK has amassed these wins by scheduling a piss poor OOC slate, recruiting athletes instead of basketball players and competing in a historically shitty SEC. It's not a feat with which to be impressed. 20 wins is not difficult with athletes playing a soft OOC schedule and averaging below .500 in the SEC. It's just not.

If you had given an actual basketball coach the talent that AK's had over the past 5 or 6 seasons (knee-gate year thrown out) we would have been to the tourney a minimum of 3 times and I'd wager runs into the S16 at least once. BEST case scenario, we'd have been dancing 4 or 5 times and been to the E8 at least once and S16 three times.

It's time for OM fans to STOP focusing on history. No other fan base does it. Bigtime SEC programs (in any sport) do not keep coaches around because of what they did 5 or 10 years ago. They keep coaches around that win, nothing more. If they stop winning, the get booted, simple as that.

If we want a big time Ath Dept and to compete in the SEC for Champs, we have GOT to adopt the same mentality as the big boys. frick THE PAST. Focus on today and tomorrow and keep bumping that bar north. 7-5 and a bowl every year is NOT good enough in football. 20 wins and NIT is NOT good enough in Basketball. Hosting a Regional or SR is NOT good enough in Baseball.

If the coaches that got us to those levels of achievement cannot get us to the NEXT level (within a reasonable time frame, setting that time fram is RB's job), get the frick out so we can get someone who CAN. Period.

I'm tired of seeing the same dumb shite every year. Bad shot selection, terrible FT %, lack of ability to keep teams off the offensive boards. It's the 7th version of the same team.

If you can't make the tournament with the all time leader in blocks at OM, the all time leader in rebounds at OM and the single season 3 points made record holder at OM then you aren't going to make the tournament.

One of those years we started 16-0 and couldn't make the tourney!!!!

I still think the year Chris Warren tore his ACL we would have made it. Starting 5 was

1. CW
2. Terrico/ Zach G
3.Terrance H/Zach G
4.Murph
5. I think a frosh or sophomore Buck

True, but is that enough? I think if you're Ole Miss you have to ask the most crucial question out there, can you get someone better then Andy Kennedy? Personally, I think it's possible but your administration is going to have to make some commitments to the program (specifically financially) in order to make it happen. I don't know Ole Miss's athletic department well enough to say one way or another. But I can say you're in FAR better shape then State so you will make a better hire then Rick Ray so I wouldn't be concerned about getting stuck into that situation.

I do think given the history of the program you're either going to end up with a good coach with a background (Bruce Pearl maybe?) or having to take a chance on an up and comer. I think at the very least you get fellers out to see where you stand.
