While at LSU this past year, I had several drinks thrown at me and my friends, popcorn thrown at us, my cooler broken into pieces and my liquor stolen. We were at a table at The Varsity watching the game. We did not talk to anyone but the people around us who were decent guys. My cooler was left at a friends tailgate (under his protection) and I was not present for its death. After the game, some random guy tried to fight me before his friend talked him down because I gave my friend a high five.
I have definitely had my worst experience with them.

I've honestly never had a run in with an opposing fan at any event (oly been to baseball, basketball anf football). In fact the few encounters I've had have always been friendly. Of course I'm not yelling int their face so this might help.

The troubles I've seen at games is almost invariably people half drunk. There are are 'happy' drunks (me) and there are a-hole drunks. Lot of a-hole drunks at events.

Yep I agree! It also shows our success over them and jealousy of UF.
As for myself, I have no problems with opposing SEC fans. It's only the fsu and miami fan base I have problems.

Florida, Florida, and Florida. Can I vote three times?
I had the privilege of attending a game there a few years ago. I will respectfully decline to return. In 2007, after LSU beat UF in Tiger Stdaium, you'd think LSU fans were being obnoxious and taunting Florida fans on the way out of the stadium, right? Wrong. LSU fans walking down the ramp from the West Upper Deck had Florida fans screaming, throwing things at them, and being generally nasty...after they lost.
Went to the LSU-Bama game that same year in Tuscaloosa and LSU won. Bama fans could not have been more nice (mostly). Even this year in BR, Bama fans before and after the game were a pleasure.

Last I checked, Bama has had LSU's number pretty good--better than UF. I'd have no qualms inviting a Bama fan to my tailgate, feed passersby, etc. I have no qualms about most other SEC fans and fan bases. Florida? Nope. Not happening. Reception of your fan base has nothing to do with your team's success. It has everything to do with how you act and compose yourself.

Me too. And in 05. What was funny about both those experiences was that after Bama lost, their fans got really pissed and wanted to fight. But not us LSU fans, they wanted to fight each other.
It was hilarious.
Only big problem I had after the bama games was in 05 when the bama fans started chanting "Go Katrina" in the stadium as we were leaving.

wow, I didn't know the disdain for UF's was so high. Yeah, the jorts thing is funny, but I never had any altercation with them that was even remotely as close to something I've had with UGA fans.
