Austin is an awesome city, very southern, some terrific food, and is a place I would visit every other year with ease (would be an awesome trip). Many people here are thinking short term about A&M. The Longhorns (for the tradition and Austin alone) are much more attractive over the long run - A&M is really a johnny-come-lately. I would have taken them easily over the Aggies. The problem is the Longhorn Network.

Just my opinion - and one of most if they sit and think about it.

Frick texas, the false UT, they would not exist without the help of the real UT, Tennessee.

Welcome Aggies, and thanks for General Neyland.

MikeHoncho.....didn't you post something like this after LSU beat Alabama in November 2011? Think you asked who would rather UAB or Alabama State in the conference rather than LSU

I promise you you don't want to have Texas in your conference. Talk about arrogance.

Not me honky. A&M fans fit in with our conference way better than Texas fans would. Texas is not welcome here.

I'd rather Texas if they gave up longhorn network. Everything about A&M is weird as frick. Texas has better everything

Yes would much rather have UT but we're stuck with the Hitler Youth I'm afraid.

If y'all want those hippie liberal frickers ask em to join. I really want to see what their demands to say yes will be because they will have them. Too, it will be fun to see which of their demands y'all will agree to.

From shaggybevo.com and their attitude toward the SEC.....

It is obvious that Slive wants Texas and UNC to bookend his conference, which at that point would be the premier football AND basketball conference with UK/UNC. Not to mention, Texas is one of two schools that can make it tough for the SEC by going to the Pac when things settle (FSU/Clemson don't have such a card to play). Slive is smarter than to let that happen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Grabbing Texas will cement the state as pure SEC territory.

The effect that would have on TV, merchandising, and high school football is so much greater than anything UNC, VT, FSU, etc. could bring.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree that Texas would fit just fine in the SEC. Great even. But there does seem to be this kind of looking down on the SEC by some at Texas. UNC seems to bring some of the same attitude w/r/t SEC membership as UT, but they'd fit in just as well. Whereas A&M positively embraced the whole deer camo southland pork bbq mentality without reservation.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Piss on the dirtyass $EC. Why doesn't every school in America with a couple of dollars in their pocket to waste on fines and legal fees just join the $#@!ing $EC and then that will become the new NCAA? No more worries about academic or recruiting rules and then it's a true pro sport instead of a de facto one as it's been since the 1940s?

I see incredible changes coming to this entire $#@!ed up system in the next 10 years. It's worse than a pro wrestling farce right now, except the paying customer of this fraudulent, bogus crap is somewhat more educated than those of rasslin.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't believe so many people here want to join the $#@!ing SEC.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

And then this....
