I suppose you don't believe that UCLA receives over 100k applications every year, too.
I'd believe it since Texas is about 1/2 the school UCLA is. And if that number is wrong, blame Bill Walton.
EDIT: Bill Walton was correct: LINK /

I hope to God that Ole Miss never reaches half the size of A&M. 8,000 freshman?. That's fricking ridiculous.
How would you ever develop a sense of place and family with 8,000 people in one class? How do you even handle Rush for that matter?

A&M is known for caring about their own. Also, we have an incredible diversity of student organizations.

Greek life isn't that popular, but for regular student orientation we have our brainwashing camp.

A&M has a pretty strong sense of family.

Greek life isn't as big at A&M as at ole miss.

not sayin that A&M is a bad school.... my sister was applying to Vet schools based on national prominence.
her choices:
1. LSU
2. Okie State
3. Miss State
4. Pepperdine
5. A&M..... and she said she would change fields and do something else before she went there.
That's your "National" reputation bro.
She went to LSU fwiw.

I can't find the 21 ACT requirement anywhere on the admission website.
So, there are three ways to be admitted to A&M: top 10%, top 25% and a 30 on the ACT or a 1300 combined math and verbal sections from the SAT, or you get admitted by having a great application and a lot of luck.
We actually have some pretty strict requirements for admission outside of the top 10% rule.

I started to type out a response but then figured this would suffice:

I'm not saying your sister is an idiot, but A&M is widely regarded as one of the top vet schools in the country. Our current ranking is 8 and LSU is at 22. Sounds like she didn't do her research when applying.

I'm sure you do. It just seems too big to me. When I was at Ole Miss we barely had 12,000 students (including grad and law), so even Ole Miss is huge to me now.

Wow, I can't imagine going to a school that small. I guess that just comes from having different backgrounds. I will say that our traditions really help with making our student body more connected. Without them I could totally understand your point of not wanting to go to a large school.

She was accepted to each one on the list. After talking to some of the top Vets and Marine Biologists in the country she chose LSU because of National Prominence.
I hate LSU MUCH worse than A&M so I have no axe to grind with you. I'm just saying what she was told by some of the top experts in her field.

DGAF about Vet schools, tbh.
Posted on 1/30/13 at 2:05 pm to ElDawgHawg
While I'm sure she did talk to experts in the field, their answers are going to be biased. LSU does have a great vet school, but we do too. I'm sure you can find plenty of experts in the field who hold the opinion that A&M is the best of those five schools.
ETA: Marine biology is something A&M Galveston does better anyways
