Fair enough, but you can ot tell me that you have not seen improvement, especially the Arky game.

Did I not say in another thread, "Whatever the coaching staff did between the Houston Baptist and Arkansas games is clearly working"?

I didnt see your post.
I said it was obviously play down low that improved. But that is just my opinion.

It would be hard to not improve upon what we have seen thus far.

dont be acting like you knew that was going to work when you were trying to make up that Kennedy curse BS.
and PS Roger, Branch SHOULD have been told to STFU as far as I'm concerned. Players and parents don't get to dictate how they are used in an offense. If they think that's the case they can GTFO and go somewhere else to coddled and treated like their shite don't stink.
and for you and CG to continue to ignore the injuries from last year... man. Are you guys just that friggin thick? NOBODY would have gotten that team to the tourney last year. NOBODY. Not even Coach K could have turned that mess into a winner.
also CG, nice friggin try by going back to Billy Clyde's first team but you damn well know that team had a hell of a lot more talent and health than we did last year. Its not even a question so for you to pretend like it was equal talent with equal health? Holy shite dude you are being disingenuous as all get out. You may as well be a damn politician with horseshite spin like that.

First rule of A&M sports: NEVER BET ON GAMES THAT YOU HAVE A VESTED INTEREST IN. (Especially involving A&M)

The injuries excuse can apply to conference play last year and to the bad showings against Mississippi State and Florida.
There is however, no excuse to lose to a putrid Rice team on your home court...especially when Dash Harris puts in 14 points.
When your 70+ game non-conference win streak ends, it's not supposed to end to a shite team that hasn't made the top half of its conference since my parents were teenagers.
Are you seriously telling me that a team with Ray Turner, David Loubeau, Kris Middleton, and Dash Harris putting in 14 points is bad enough to blow a halftime lead to RICE in Shermanesque fashion?
We were so bad during that game that we could have lost by 20. Considering the talent disparity, there's no other answer but bad coaching.
That's like saying that Mike Sherman isn't accountable for the loss to Arkansas State because of "injuries" and "lack of talent".
For the record, Rice went 8-8 in Conference USA, losing to 3 of the teams beneath them in the standings.
Kennedy's losses to Rice and Southern = Gillispie's loss to Gardner Webb at Kentucky. Absolutely no excuse whatsoever.
All you have to do here is admit that there is no possible spin that you can put on the Rice and Southern home losses and your other points are valid. The fact that you continue to make excuses for losses that are completely inexcusable invalidates your argument.

except I have never made an excuse for the Rice loss. Could it simply be they played like shite and the talent on that team you listed was overrated to begin with? A coach can't control everything ya know.
Southern loss I dont mind as much b/c this team is pretty much brand new aside from the Turners and when you rely on so many young players you are going to get burned with seemingly bad losses now and then. Just look at Kentucky.

While I will admit that, perhaps the Southern loss forced Kennedy to restructure his offensive philosophy, it shouldn't have come to that.
The warning signs were SCREAMING at him during the St. Louis and Oklahoma games. Even the Washington State game, which Elston Turner had to bail us out of had the same problems.
What I think happened is that Hyman talked to him behind closed doors and told him that the team needed to get significantly better if he wanted to remain head coach.
We only scored 2 points in the final five minutes and FOULED them with 6 seconds to go. That's a coaching problem.
If he somehow manages to avoid a loss to the bottom of the SEC (Georgia, Mississippi State, Auburn, South Carolina), then we'll know the problem is fixed. If he loses to any of them, especially at home, then the Kentucky win won't matter.

IMO thats a player execution problem.
and since the NCAA limits how much you can practice there is only so much you can do before you leave faith in the players to do right.

These players are perfect, they are all NBA first round draft picks and should be in the final four with half way decent coaching

Who is getting paid $1.3 million/year to ensure that correct execution happens?
Who is getting paid $1.3 million/year to ensure that the team isn't in position to lose a game in the final minute against a BAD team.

So Kentucky should fire Calipari because his team of future draft picks aren't executing and that is his fault.

I agree he has a responsibility to get his team in a position to win and to make sure they execute.
The problem I have on this thread and several others is that the players get credit when they execute, and Kennedy gets blame when they don't. So, which is it? That's all I'm saying.

again, there is only so much the coaches can do.
if the players continue to shoot like arse and commit stupid turnovers there is nothing the coaches can do but let them play through it and hope for the best. They can't control what happens on that court when it gets to that point. I don't know why you can't accept this.
Is the Mavs Rick Carlisle suddenly a bad coach that should be fired b/c they are down this year? Did he lose the ability to coach OT games with them being 1-8 in them this year? Is it his fault Dirk has been hurt and several other injuries have derailed momentum for various players? Is it completely his fault that a practically new team hasn't instantly gelled?

Looks like UK is just that bad. This the same team that lost to Southern.
Posted on 1/17/13 at 6:47 pm to Roger Klarvin
We weren't going to beat Florida regardless. I'm waiting to resume the calls for Kennedy's job when (not if) we lose to one of the REALLY bad teams in the SEC.

Losing to UF doesnt mean much. Getting blown out at home after a supposed season changing win does.
Kennedy doesnt run an offense.
