And I now know I am an idiot for doing so. What a year, I can't wait to see what the future holds. Everyone will talk about JFF but this senior class and team was awesome

I'm still not sure getting him wasn't just dumb luck. Hat's off to the man though!!!

It's crazy how BIG hires can be second choices/attempts some times. Alabama has Nick Saban because Rich Rod turned them down!

I was disappointed in the Sumlin hire at 1st too but he definitely wasnt the worst option I was hearing.

Never been happier to have been so wrong.

It was a great idea from the start.

Sherm left offensive talent. Sumlin could maximize that talent.

Sherm left a good recruiting class behind. Sumlin could keep and improve it.

The SEC is used to slow old man football. Sumlin could force them to play outside their element.

I was for Sumlin 100%. Heck I wanted him when Sherm was first hired and after Mizzou in 2010. Being A&M's next HOF coach has been his destiny for a while.

Remember that time that Dennis Franchione was the slam dunk, home run hire?

Ever since then, I have and will approach every hire with a wait and see indifference. Sumlin's has a good year one, here's to hoping he can keep it going.

I always thought he was a good hire for the long term, but thought it would take longer to get players in shape and sell them on his approach.

The difference in recruiting is obvious. His ability to avoid the halftime meltdown(s) of Sherman seem pretty good, too -- the Florida game could be chalked up to nerves, and the LSU game was a turnover-and-missed-kick fiasco.
