Just a question.

Les Miles' got the team rings for their SEC Championship season that read "#2 in the nation".

Doesn't that imply that Les is blaming them? To be fair, while I understand that it can be a powerful motivator, it could also have been viewed as the coach with the horrible game plan (and who took responsibility for the loss) now trying to cast the aspersions on the efforts of the team instead?

I'm just curious what the average LSU fan's take on it was.

Personally, I don't agree with making #2 rings. But I get where he was coming from. I think you're reading too much into it. I think he was merely trying to let the team know that even though the final game was an abortion, they should still celebrate the success of going undefeated and winning the conference. That's it. Again, I don't agree with making rings for that, I think hanging a banner or something (which they did) is plenty.

My take is that our coach is a looney toon and used the #2 nationally thing to try to motivate, but I don't see the motivation. 20 years from now the players will see those rings and think about what could have been if their head coach wasn't so stubborn.
I get what miles was trying to do in the short term with the rings, by I think long term it could have a different effect.

The average LSU fan doesn't give a damn about it. Why do you?

It's unusual and simple curiosity. Nothing more.

If I was a player I would go have it removed from my ring. I think it was a stupid thing to do. While we didn't win it all we still won the SEC and that's a big deal.

It was nothing more than a motivational tactic.

Really? You don't care about the dumb choices your head coach makes?

I think it was incredibly stupid. Now that whole team is stuck with a championship ring they can never show off, never be proud of. Not to mention the seniors last year who never had a chance for redemption to begin with.

Why are Alabama fans so concerned with LSU?

Those losses in 2010 and 2011 really hurt you didn't they?

There is your answer. Why ask the question when you already know the answer?

Very old, but now the season is over and those 2 losses highlight how absurd it was as a motivational tool.
