I hear ya mogray. It just kind of pisses me off because I did/do think GP was/is a good coach. I think he elevated the program and had a chance to continue elevating it. Coming off the Daniel era, you got highly touted Gabbert(whether you like him or not, he was sought after). With the winning seasons you followed it up with DGB. The momentum could have been ridden into the SEC (and I understand injuries played a part) but instead of riding that momentum, I heard too much about...

DWI's
Divorces
More time at bars
Other coaches outworking them on the recruiting trail
Phone calls not getting returned to recruits

It just reeks of being complacent and distracted and I think that has as much to do with it as injuries.

Yep, I was the biggest Pinkel guy.. but all those things you listed made me turn on him. Now I just hope he does well bc it's good for MU, but I have no love for the guy anymore.

It also doesn't help that the overall atmosphere of the fans is atrocious, people outside of the program pick up on the vibe. That's hurting us too.

This. Exactly.

What do you mean by this? That the fans are frustrated with Pinkel? Or some other attitude issue?

I think he's just saying negativity breeds negativity. When all you read is negative feedback whether here, Tigerboard or at the barbershop(hair salon), it is inevitable that that negativity is going to spill over to others and ultimately recruits.

I would agree with that 100%. We are a patient fan base, but we've gotten used to winning. Pinkel is a victim of is own success. He taught us to expect a fairly clean program, decent number of wins, bowl games, and coaches that were focused on improving. He established a reputation as a family man and someone with a lot of integrity, and we saw that bleed over into his teams.

Then, there were rumors. Then a DWI, followed by a divorce. Then the affair. So, all of a sudden he's not acting like the man we thought he was. If that was the case and he'd continued winning, the fans probably wouldn't have made such a big deal of it. But the team had a bad year, and it started looking like his personal problems were bleeding over ontot he team. Everything fell apart for him in a very short period of time. We'll see if he can get it back on track, or not.

I just mean things are what they are.. the atmosphere within the Mizzou football world is not very pleasant right now. We have loyal fans, but people are unsettled, as they should be.. just think outsiders are picking up on the vibe.

Couldn't agree more.

For the sake of the program, I hope he turns it around. But I'm not holding my breath. And if it turns out that he can't, I hope they move fast and pay big money for the best coach available.

New Commit: 2* LB out of Arlington, TX
Love his video though! He is very disciplined and has great pursuit of the ball. Welcome to Mizzou True Son Roderick Winters!

Welcome to the kid!

I'm going to try and withhold any comment on staff, and remind myself and everyone else that Sean Weatherspoon was a 2* LB from Texas.

The video in the link, at least from my computer, is distorted and only clears up for one play. Does anyone else have this problem

Really do believe that these 2 stars have potential.. In all of our cases there is a back story. Guy is new to position ect. But all these 2 stars have to be hurting our chances with the better recruits. No one wants to sign onto a sinking ship.

Here is a tweet that makes me feel a little better about Mr. Winters.

quote:

Terez A. Paylor @TerezPaylor

Winters' HS coach said a number of other schools, including Baylor and TCU, had interest in Winters and wanted to see more of him. #Mizzou

Has anyone heard anything about what his position will be? I can't help but think he'll be a safely, but with his speed we'll see.

That was my first thought. Seemed undersized for LB. Who knows.

Weakside LB would be my guess. Remember Ray Lewis was only 6 flat. He likely will not being a blitzer rather used in coverage a lot with his speed and athleticism. He will put on more weight. Of the 2* players we have I like him the most.

^this

I could see him playing OLB if he grows at all. He will have to put on weight for either position.

For me it has to be Stribling IV. I remember people on a UT board complaining they did not pursue him more, that apparently he is very athletic.

Fairchild, the OL out of Kansas is supposedly no push-over either idk i feel like alot of our 2* should be 3* i guess lol.
